Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports that the Brewers are signing Manuel Margot.

Margot hit .238/.289/.337 with four homers and five steals over 129 games with Minnesota in 2024. The former top prospect had his $12 million mutual option declined by the Twins, with Margot instead getting a $2 million buyout. He’ll battle for a backup outfield gig this spring.

Meh

Nothing but depth at this point.

I'll easily take Margot over Hicklen or Collins to be a weakside platoon guy in the OF if that spot was ever needed.

Thinking he's depth is a stretch, imo. Que The Wedding Singer scene where Sandler says "Well....WHOOPITY-DOO!!!!!" 🤣

This only annoys me because we still haven’t made this kind of signing for SS/3B

I tried to log in on my iPad. Turns out it was an etch-a-sketch and I don't own an iPad. Also, I'm out of vodka.

Now we know why Milwaukee signed Margot … Perkins fractured his shin bone a few days ago & is out until early May.

Perkins is one of my favorite Brewers players - this is sad news for me & costly to the Brewers depth.

Bummed to see this.

I always liked Margot. Fits the Brewers quite well. Hope he plays well, Perkins gets back, and then we have another good problem on our hands with a crowded OF.

Margot's bat these days.... yikes.  I saw plenty of Twins games last year, yet his play made it easy to forget he was on the team.

It was only a few years ago that we signed Blake Perkins in a similar manner. Not saying Margot will become that, but you churn the bottom of the roster looking for guys like this.  Minor league deal makes it that much easier.

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

Except that Margot is on the wrong side of 30 and doesn't really bring anything to the table anymore and the Brewers have three very good defensive outfielders. Hope he doesn't make the team.
