I'm also mostly unfamiliar with Blue. What the measurables & numbers suggest:

He fits the profile they've been looking for AFA being a bigger guard.

Very solid shooting % overall. His 3pt% jumped to an impressive 41% after being much more pedestrian his first two seasons. Not the type of FT% we saw the team turn in last season, but decent.

His size (6'6", 190), thirty-seven blocks in his career & about 1 SPG as a JR suggest someone that could be a disruptive defender.

Unlike some of the others they've looked at I don't expect him to be someone they'd slide to the point.

Is this a sign they're thinking Boyd is leaning elsewhere? Maybe. I do know that Boyd added to the other three would be terrific beyond expectations.

Last I’ve read on Boyd is just crossing T’s and dotting I’s type of thing with his contract stuff. But again in this era of player movement nothing is certain until it’s official.

Blue apparently has a relationship with Rohde from his days at St. Thomas. I think Blue made a real jump finally last year with his game, especially the three point shooting. Perhaps he’s insurance in case things fall through with Boyd but hopefully not. Looks like he could potentially play some wing too

It becomes sort of positionless on offense, but defensively yeah, I think if Blue comes here you'd see him guarding the versatile 6'5"-6'8" guys on the wing when he's on the floor.

Amos has entered the portal.  I was looking forward to seeing him develop for next year… we definitely need more front court depth in the portal now.

Really hard right now to convince kids to stay/go somewhere where they'll be on the bench.

Just as hard to keep a kid as it is to convince a transfer to come in somewhere where he'll get 10 minutes a game.

It sounds like Amos was definitely coming back. Or thinking about leaving. Depending on which day of the week it was. Looked like there was at least a chance they might've been shopping for one more player even with Amos; now they certainly aren't done shopping.

Of course, Amos could pull his name, and decide to stay. Or leave his name in the portal & decide to stay. Or go elsewhere. Meanwhile go ahead, Greg, build a roster.

Coaches are well-paid of course. But it must be thrilling to deal with a sport in which maybe 90% of the athletes feel they deserve to start, yet you should conduct your roster management accordingly even though well over half your players CAN'T start. Makes your appreciation and respect for the Carter Gilmores & Kamari McGees just absolutely soar.

We are in a recruiting dead period but a couple news notes dropped including the announced return of C Ricardo Greppi. There were rumors he was exploring a move to the transfer portal. I would presume Gard assured him he is in the mix for a role next season?

Also Kendall Blue, who had some interest from UW is headed to Nebraska.

I would think UW adds another transfer or two yet.

Totally agree. Would've loved to add Blue but not a shocker he went elsewhere.

Greppi supposedly thinking about the portal, then deciding to stay after Amos announced, I suspect is not coincidental.

I wonder what are the chances of Amos returning?

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

The more I think about it, the more I believe it's not out of the question. Of course he put his name out there so it would be kinda foolish to get TOO hopeful.

As is, I think X could be very productive playing the 4 with the right mid-major program. But maybe he's also hoping for a certain $$$ level that just won't be there. Either way, he added a little toughness, a little defense to his game this season. And he can put the ball in the hole. I'd love to see him recognize the development, see the capacity for that to continue at UW, and return.

Amos has decided to transfer to Loyola (CHI). IMO a good fit for his skillset & where he's at right now development-wise. VS most of the bigs in The Valley he'll be able to stay on the floor physically & get enough minutes to score 12-15 PPG. Then he can go to DePaul in 26-27. Or if he disappoints he can try Chicago State, IPFW or SIU-Edwardsville.

The beat goes on..........

From what I've heard Bieliauskas has not one, but two agents. If that means he's twice as good as everyone else out there, sign me up. He's 19, so room to grow/develop. Battle for bench minutes between him, Greppi & Garlock looks pretty wide open.

Carrington looks to be a defensive oriented, role player.  Has good size for a perimeter defender.

That's the only thing I've ever heard about him AFA particular strengths; that he can defend. Two years at Minnesota before going to Tulsa. Maybe the best thing about him is that it keeps you from throwing Kinziger to the wolves as a top backcourt sub if he isn't quite ready.

Little-used reserve Chris Hodges has committed to Montana State, where he'll at least have a slight chance of more playing time. He'll have one year left, or two, or thirteen. I don't think anyone knows anymore.

He stuck at UW for a long time w/little chance of receiving minutes, toiling with the scout team, and for that he deserves kudos. I hope he sees the floor there.

Old news, but for anyone who didn't hear this, Daniel Freitag is going to Buffalo of the MAC.

On the other side of the aisle, the best Badger women's player the last 15 years transfers to....the reigning national champions.

Interesting contrast.  Most of the Men's transfers have gone to smaller programs - validating that we are playing and keeping the right players.

Then the women's loses someone to one of the best programs out there.

It's probably a good place for him to reset.

I think so. He obviously wasn't getting appreciably better in the day-to-day practice grind, so this is probably going to be more of a sink or swim situation for him. I just hope for his sake he has the work ethic & mindset to improve because he clearly needs to. Not the level of the B10, but the MAC is no joke.
