Low-A Carolina need to win today at home over Fayetteville to capture a 4-2 series win. RHP Chandler Welch makes his 2nd start of the week (89 pitches for Wisconsin on Tuesday). DH Eric Martinez gets his 3rd start for the club.

AAA Nashville have already won their road series at Memphis and have RHP Deivi Garcia (4.34 ERA, 1.55 WHIP, 8.1 K/9 in 29 IP) on the bump this afternoon. SS Freddy Zamora keeps doing the Moneyball thing (19-game on-base streak).

Chandler Welch walked a batter before surrendering a two run bomb but bounced back to strikeout the last two batters of the first inning.

Welch put up a zero in the 2nd with a lil help from Marco Dinges gunning down a runner on the bases.

39 pitches after two in what will likely be an abbreviated second start of the week for Chandler,

LHP Nate Peterson makes his 3rd start (8th appearance, including 44 pitches thrown on Tuesday) for AA Biloxi, which aims to clinch a 4-2 series victory at Montgomery. C Victor Torres (63 PAs from 2023-24) makes his first 2025 appearance. 1B Zavier Warren is 7-for-15 with 2 HRs in his last 4 games.

A pair of two out walks by Demetrio Nadal and Tyler Rodriguez set the stage for a three run bomb from #9 hitter Eric Martinez to put Carolina up 3-2 after two innings

I don't think Carolina can afford for it to be an abbreviated start. I think they are going to ask him to get that pitch count up to 90-100 area considering the state of their pitching staff.

Carolina adding on in the third with a Luis Peña single, Marco Dinges HBP and Filippo Di Turi scoring a fourth Mudcat run.

Reece Walling has walked to load em up with one out.

Carolina batters couldn’t come through but a balk did get one Mudcat home stretching the lead to 5-2 after three.

Chandler Welch might not be long for professional baseball. After seriously struggling in A+ to get demoted to A and give up 3 HR in your first start...tough scenes

Five singles so far have TRats out in front. One out on the base path - Herbert at home - but an error and wild pitch help out. 2 outs, 4 runs in.
Meanwhile Muddies get some base runners. But nothing doing. Still up7-4.

Ugh. Grounder to third and they get the runner at home but the throw to first is high and the first baseman tries to get the bag and/or runner and Peña runs into him and has to exit. He was down for a minute. Ugh. Can we just not have injuries running the bases for a while please ?!?

Still 8-4 game.

Peña had a horrible looking collision at first, I THINK he may have caught an elbow to the face and is now being replaced by bitonti. I think it'll be concussion checks but hopefully nothing more sinister.

Just feels like we are never going to see a healthy Carolina team. Pena probably has a concussion from that. Payne is dealing with something. Adamczewski is dealing with a back issue. Why can't we just get a healthy stretch from Carolina.
