He looks worse than he did a year ago.

He was pretty shaky the first quarter of the season last year.

Yeah he was but approach wise he's in a way worse place right now than he ever was last year. He honestly has one of the worst approaches in MLB

Levering isn't great at judging whether a ball is going to be a homer or not. BA had the same problem in his first few years

I promise I understand what is happening. Everything I said still remains. There is a big difference to me in protecting a 33yr old journeyman that you are hoping to eat innings for you during a season and 'protecting' a 24yr old kid that we need to be a part of our rotation for the next half decade. Priester needs to get bruised up and needs to learn from it. This is the year to learn while we are down. If he can't get guys out he can't be here. We need to find out if he can.

It's May 19th and the Brewers are 3 games under .500. It's not time to be just throwing Priester out to just deal with it. Maybe two months from now that will be true, but for now the Brewers need to be trying their best to win games and with the anemic offense that means using openers for starters with huge platoon splits

Agreed approach wise he's probably worse but his mechanics are much like they were early last year where he didn't trust his hands and was flying open and overswinging at everything

Ok, then let's be consistent. If we are protecting Priester then we need to protect Ortiz and limit his at bats against tough match ups and we can't give Capra 60 at bats and we can't have Yelich in the 3 hole, etc etc

If we are trying to "maximize" our lineup then do it. If we are going to let everyone work their way out of their struggles... then do it.

No walks is huge for Priester. There was hard contact today, but it’s not as bad for a guy who gets so many ground balls. Use your defense and make them earn their base runners

Last year we sure seemed to be a lot better at being able to at least put balls in play with runners at 3rd and no one out
