Wait so is Murphy a bad manager now because he taxes the bullpen too much, or because he leaves his best starter in too long? I'm having trouble keeping my narratives straight

If we lose tonight its on Murphy. Peralta had struggled in the 5th and he was already at over 90 pitches. I don't blame Rob Z for allowing a run to score. 2nd and 3rd with no outs turns into 1.96 runs on average. Either he or Ashby should have started the inning

The issue with Murphy is there is no real plan. Guys are cruising and yanked. Guys clearly laboring back out for more. He's had a horrible year on pitching side imo.

Its not about narratives nor is it a dichotomic issue. He is overusing guys like Uribe AND he should have pulled Peralta. 2 things can be true at once

This is going to blow your mind, but it is possible for a manager to make both mistakes of leaving a starter in too long and pulling a starter too early in different independent games.

No, he screwed up tonight trotting Freddy back out there in the 7th.

I think keeping Freddy in was marginally the wrong call, but if you score 5 runs in two games at that ballpark, you're lucky to win one.

Yeah I’m mostly in agreement. Freddy shouldn’t have started the 7th, but 2 runs isn’t enough offense. No certainty they win even if he doesn’t start the 7th.

Does someone want to let Murphy know that Aaron Ashby exists? Ashby hasn't pitched since 5/27...we are basically operating with a 7 man bullpen

If the Brewers lose tonight it’s because the offense has gone to sleep after the two big games in Philly.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

This is really a head scratcher.

A mirage for sure. Ortiz got a bit of a repreve but dude is terrible and an upgrade is needed.

Yeah, his defense has been fine but we just can't have his bat in the lineup.

Been so disappointed in Ortiz. Last year he looked a guy we should be happy to build around.
