Reportedly it is Hicks, Harrison and more.

Hicks is a salary offset and Harrison is probably the best player going back to Boston.

James Tibbs and one more unnamed prospect are heading to Boston as well. Tibbs was San Francisco's 1st round pick last year.

The Red Sox must be taking on some salary because this doesn't make sense if they aren't.

Reported that Red Sox aren't absorbing any salary. San Francisco owes the rest of the contract.

This seems like an overpay for the Giants. I like the prospects they sent and they didn't get any money back.

Boston will have more flexibility getting that contract off their books. Devers is 28 and his body type looks like he's not going to age well in a place that can be tough to hit. We shall see.

Tibbs is a first round pick doing well and Bello has good stats (although he is old for the level). Devers is owed a crazy amount of money and is pretty much only a DH going forward with attitude problems.

I believe Boston won this trade with only having to take on Hicks salary.  Harrison while he hasn't been great is still a youngish starting pitcher.  Tibbs and Bello should have required Boston taking on some of Devers salary.  Not exactly sure what the Giants are doing here.

Yeah, Devers is a great hitter no doubt, but only so many teams can afford $270M for a DH only player.

This is kind of the way I see it. I think it won't be long before this will look real bad for the Giants for the salary alone.

I don't know why people are worried about salary. San Francisco is a mega market that likely doesn't care if Devers contract is eventually under water. They aren't the Milwaukee Brewers.

Crazy amount of money? He makes a couple mil more a year than yelichs garbage contract juan soto is an ass fielder might as well be a dh Boston had no problem offering him 700 mil 😂

Buster being aggressive.

They've gotten Adames and Chapman (& Jung Hoo Lee) to take their money, but haven't been able to land that true difference making bat in FA.

As long as Devers keeps hitting around a 135 OPS+ the money won't be an issue for them.

Please refrain from using the word "ass" in future posts, it is against the Community Guidelines.

Yelich has three years and $78M after this year. Devers has eight years and $254M after this year. Those are two different levels of expenditure even if the AAVs are close.

Juan Soto has a 157 wRC+ and 38.1 WAR since 2018, Devers has a 127 wRC+ and 26.8 WAR over the same timeframe. These are two different calibres of players, plus Soto is two years younger and signed as a free agent versus signing a pre-free agency extension like Devers.

He signed his last year of arb 😂😂 youre telling me 10 more carrer war is worth almost 500 million more than devers? And why are you bringing up how many years yelich has left when the only tool I used was his aav they are both under contract until 36

MLB owners / front offices decided each player's value, not me.

But yes, Soto did get $450M more and five extra years over Devers for being better, younger, and a free agent.

Yea and it will go down as the worst contract in history just like yelichs contract is the worst in brewers history devers still produces every year yelich hasn't done anything in 5 years thanks David stearns

Adding Devers probably doesn't win them their division or make them a true contender this year. Just because you are a big market, doesn't mean you should throw away money. Adames and Devers are gonna be boat anchors for them pretty soon.

Yelich has been producing for the past three years though.  With him being just as good as Devers in '23 and '24.

I don't see how adding Devers doesn't make them a true contender. They have arguably the best 1-2 punch in baseball, the best bullpen by WPA in baseball, and now a really good 1-4 in the order with Lee, Ramos, Devers, Chapman
