Yes, if Giannis moves, it is fire-sale time.  Next year, take on bad contracts for draft picks, then work on building it back up.

Rollins would be the one I'm on the fence about... but if we are tearing down, it might still make sense for a good return.

this is a rare year where the bucks have a great chance to get a top lottery pick, even with the pick swap. If they can get 1 or 2 more 1sts, it could accelerate the rebuild if Horst doesn't mess it up (thats a big IF).

Would Giannis be willing to rebuild?  For example, fire sale on everyone but Giannis.  Not sure if the number of picks they would get back would be worth it, though.

When they showed Bobby P on the bench last night, something just didn't look right.  He was staring off and not really interacting with anyone.  I tried to find it on the broadcast, but couldn't find it.  Not sure if there is something going on there.

If you believe the rumors the Bucks were not willing to put Rollins in a package for Morant.  I am not sure the current front office would be willing to trade Rollins unless it was an overpay.

I don’t see a team overpaying for Rollins.  I think you get a 2nd round pick and maybe a developing younger player along with a salary dump.

What on Earth are the Wizards doing? Make it make sense.

The 1st they gave up are late or heavily protected. They have a young core that is getting better, if AD can even play 50 games next year they will likely be a playoff team. For a team that hasn't been relevant for like 10 years that is bigto the fans.

I think the question is what are the 76ers doing? Are they building up picks for a big deal?

I get this part of the equation. AND, I get maximizing value of the Beal deal etc. BUT, also, to think landing on Trae and AD as the first end move in this rearranging is quite something. AD hasn't played a healthy season since? I honestly don't even know and he's on the wrong side of 30. And, Trae, well Trae is just a net negative player and is extremely ball dominant - not to mention he plays zero defense.

There is a rumor that the Bucks plan to tank the rest of the season but will then trade the pick for a veteran to pair with Giannis.

Yep this franchise is screwed.

Bucks thought they had the go-ahead 3 from Turner with 6 seconds left. Not so fast! Myles caught the ball with his right foot clearly out of bounds. Tank on! Pels can't capitalize. Leading to this absolute Kooooooz gem:

All Time Kooz gaffe. There are levels to his levels. Pels should have won it on their ensuing possession but Trey Murphy III fumbled a backdoor pass for the winning lay in. Incredible strength to this Tank-Off.

I'm very high on Rollins.  No way do I take a 2nd.  Keep him and let him grow then.

The Tank is strong with this one...

The Warriors apparently offered 4 unprotected first round picks for Giannis and the Bucks were not interested in that offer.

The Heat are still interested in Giannis but it doesn’t look like a trade is likely by the deadline unless the Heat go crazy with their offer.

I am still worried that the Bucks have decided to just tank the rest of the way this season and their plan is to trade that pick for someone like Morant.

Bucks trade Cole Anthony, Amir Coffey to Suns for Nick Richards, Nigel Hayes-Davis.

Richards looks like an upgrade for Jericho Sims. Or a precursor to a Bobby trade?

Nice to have NHD on the Bucks... just for some Badger love.

Giving up Anthony or Coffey are nothing-burgers, except that we oddly lacking anything at the SF position.  Maybe Khash gets a buy-out and come back to fill the hole?

i find it absolutely hilarious that bleacher report gave the bucks a D for this trade and the suns an A, I see this is a big nothing burger for both teams and both teams should be graded similarly.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... Phoenix dropped $2.5M to get under the tax line.  Milwaukee got the only NBA viable rotation player out of the 4 with Richards.  He is on expiring contract (they all are) but the Bucks own his Bird rights if they want him back next year.

But getting even "B" grades certainly seems more logical than "D" and "A".  I suppose it is good to remember this is Bleacher Report... perhaps the author was miffed that the Bucks didn't trade Giannis.

except for they traded Richards to the Bulls.

And that was my point the grade was more due to not trading Giannis rather than the actual trade they made in a vacuum.

It’s a little bizarre for them to knock the Bulls for trading Dieng, citing his intrigue and upside, and then two paragraphs later in our grade, cite him as a guy on the downside of his development (at 22) that does nothing for us long-term.

Not sure what was the plan today, I get (but disagree) with getting a Morant and trying to make a playoff run, I get (and wanted) some kind of fire sale. Even if you keep Giannis, Horst could have traded some vets for picks and tried to sell Giannis on a quick rebuild centered around him. They did neither, the one trade that they made doesn’t help playoff chances nor helps their lottery odds.

Not really. He is young, a former g league mvp that will be UFA after this season too. He will get some PT to see if he can help. Reminds me of getting KPJ last deadline.
ricards is older and could help get some more wins, that shouldn’t be the teams focus anymore.

Bucks sign Cam Thomas. I don’t understand the NBA at all to know how a player of his caliber was just available in the middle of the season.

It's because he isn't good. Relationship soured with the Nets and he had become a pain in the ass. He's just a shot chucker. He can score some points with Giannis out but he isn't going to solve any problems.

This team is the definition of throwing doo doo at the wall until something sticks.

He can’t play high level defense, but he’s a high end scorer and at only 24 it’s quite possible that his defensive deficiencies can be improved.

I’m not saying he makes them into some contender. But they needed a scorer. They’re one of the lowest scoring teams in the league.

He’s better than what they’ve been throwing out there. I’d much rather them throw someone like him at a wall than some aging vet on a buyout.

It's absolutely nothing lost no matter what happens.

I don't disagree that it can't possibly hurt them, I'm just nearly certain it isn't going to do anything.
