Yeah, most deadlines are like this. A few deals here and there in the days leading up to the deadline and then a flurry of activity in the last few hours on the last day.

LOL, very true and then everyone says WHAT?  I didn't see that comin.'

Id love to grab IKF from Pittsburgh. He would be a fairly significant upgrade over Monasterio as the utility guy and if Ortiz struggles hed be a solid replacement there too. I think people are sleeping on him because he isnt a power bat(which I'd also like to see them acquire)

His WAR since 2020

2025: 1.3

2024: 3.6

2023: 0

2022: 2.9

2021: 3.9

2020: 2.1(shortened season)

While the “fit” questioning is valid, dissecting his HR numbers seems like random statistical noise to me. Chase Field has a lower HR park factor than American Family Field. Of any concern I have with Suarez, his power not translating to AmFam isn’t one of them.

With so many at one park, he might see the ball specifically well at that park. His BA is 20 points higher and obp is 50 points higher at home as well. It doesn't take a ton of dissecting, hitting twice as many hr at home vs on the road in the same number of games makes you wonder why. It's a small enough sample that it could be variance, but I would be less concerned about his bat not translating if the split wasn't so dramatic.

He's always hit for a lot of power, including a 49 HR season for the Reds in 2019 (and before you say Great American Ballpark, over half of those HR were on the road).

So my guess would be variance. Would I expect him to continue to average a 50 HR a year pace, no. But he’d still be the top HR threat in our lineup from the day we acquired him.

Going rogue with my predictions

Cortes and Quintana to the Padres for Cease - Why? I don't' think we will get much for either one of these pitchers in a vacuum.    Padres are super thin at SP.  All are free agents at year end, so kind of net net there.  Brewers rotation goes from really good to insane and Padres get 2 solid pitchers to cover innings

That's my 1 prediction, but I think there will be more deals on the margins.

1 Get Carlos Santana. Cheap upgrade rental and good teammate.

2 Get a high end reliever. Minn and Balt seem to want to sell.

3 Trade Quintana to a AL contender for one top 15 or two top 30 organization prospects.

4 Wave Hoskins name around the AL and see if anyone bites.

Im beginning to think the move to make is to deal with the Angels who seem to be going for it a bit.

Anges need starting pitching if they want to contend.   Ward and Rengifo for Cortes Quintana and Monasterio.

Off the wall idea I could see some logic in would be Kim from TB.  Been hurt all year, TB is selling. He's signed for 1 more year basically at Hoskins salary slot, well its a player option I'd expect him to pick up after being hurt all year so far.  We seems to trade with TB a fair amount, they probably wouldn't mind just being off the money so we don't give up any prospects of value. Plays great D while being an ok hitter and could be the stopgap at SS until the young guys are ready.  Thing is he's currently back on the DL, but it seems minor and should be back in the next week.

Mauricio Dubón for either Quintana or Cortes

This is a great idea. But with their injury-issues, and their being in first place, they really need Dubon's versatility. Probably more than they need pitching.

Sure but you'd have to give up much more for him and dig into some legit prospects.  The idea on Kim is that he'd essentially be a salary dump to us.

I wish I knew the real value of Monasterio and Seigler's defense in comparison to Willi Castro's. It just seems like adding Castro and say, O'Hearn, and subtracting Monasterio and Seigler would really set the Brewers up, in terms of making a lineup from now until November. They would have starting-caliber cover at every position.

If you can get Kim for nothing and your plan is to play him at SS - Sure

In his best year, 2023, his number are deceiving

Well yea, that was the idea posted.    I agree that I also thought he was generally overrated due to being a blah hitter, he was someone I wanted to pass on last offseason when he was talked about, especially knowing he'd miss half a year.  But he's viewed as GG caliber SS D and is at least ok at hitting.  Only a 1.5 year salary commitment which is good for us, yea 16 mil is too much for him but its only one year. SS is much more of a need now than we thought in the offseason. And the injury should be behind him now.  You'd essentially be getting 1.33 seasons and two playoff runs for 20ish mil.  Not sure on exacts but I think you could get a pick back for him after next season too.

They just traded for Urias

Shock everyone and trade for Carlos Correa ( if he waives his no trade clause)

Brewers get : Correa/30 mil

Twins get: Lara/Wilkin/Wichrowski

I am thinking we land Luis Garcia Jr from the Nats for Myers.

The Luis Garcia Jr with -26 DRS | -11 FRV at 2B and -21 DRS | -15 FRV at SS for his career?

Can't see the Brewers giving up Myers and his three extra years of team control for an infielder who can't field, or run the bases (-3.6 BsR career), or take a walk (4.7 BB% career), or really hit either (93 wRC+).

What box is LGJ checking for you?

Last year he was a 2.2 war player.   Showed power with 22 homers and stole 18 bases.   Get him on this team and that 2.2 WAR player has a decent chance of making a return.

Maybe Myers is too much though and maybe we can get him for CRod or Black or both.
