Too much fanfare today … winning the game is all that matters … I could care less about the postgame HR derby

I prefer for this (average talent) team to simply focus on one game at a time … otherwise the Cubs will pass us by & take the NL Central

The Brewers are an incredible team through 102 games, but it appears that there are too many distractions today

It’s been a while since the Brewers played a lousy game … no doubt, they deserve to lose today… this has been uninspiring baseball from the start

Why hit Black for Vaughn? He had a hit today. Then it looked like Ortiz was going to hit. Murphy is something.

Murphy was perfectly placed as a bench coach. He’s great with the media too. He’s below average as a manager of the actual game. As I’ve stated numerous times: The Brewers often win in spite of him - seldom if ever because of him.

Brewers could use a catcher. There is said it

Nah. Contreras is fine. It would be great if he went back to being “great”, but he’s still been fine. I think you’re overestimating how good the average MLB catcher is.

If you think trading Hader in first place was a risky move, imagine benching the guy who works with this pitching staff every single day.

If we trade for a good bat he needs to bat 8th for the rest of the year

No chance he signs off on this. He is co manager.

A lot of sloppiness for the first home game after the All Star Break. Looks a lot different than the previous week on the road. Hope it's just a one-off tied to distractions with today's events that clears up quickly.

Ok fine. Can we hit him 6 or lower?

Mears getting hammered is solely on our manager. He has pitched FAR too much. A High leverage bullpen arm is probably our single most glaring need due to the overuse of Uribe and Mears

I'm more of the mindset that the guy who couldn't throw strikes deserves some blame.

If he's below average, so are 29 other managers.

Fine by me. If there are 5 better alternatives though on this roster, they aren’t better by much.

He's got 7th best ops in lineup today so I'm gonna say yeah unfortunately

Making the 2025 Brewers the opening act was not wise!

Celebrate the current team by keeping them prime time!

HR Derby should have been this afternoon!

Having Frelick back in the lineup and the leadoff spot sometime this weekend should be beneficial. Turang has done well filling in at leadoff, but it's probably better to get his bat a little further down in run-producing part of the order.

It's not significant because they both failed, but I thought Ashby was worse than Mears today. Go back to the point where Ramirez was behind 0-2 in the seventh. From that point on, through the Stowers AB (about 12 pitches) Miami's plate discipline was off-the-charts good. Guaranteed Mears got strike three on a handful of those throws many times this year & last. That whole sequence was magnified by our lack of ability to do the same but more than that we just didn't hit today. Reminded me of the middle game in Seattle except Quantrill wasn't pitching at the same level.

Would've been interesting if Durbin came up with a big hit to cut into the lead in his last AB, but again, a chase for strike three. Then Siegler Ks in his AB while seeing exactly one strike. They out plate-disciplined us big time. Teams don't usually do that. If I'm Miami I'm thinking I have a nice core.

Black vs Siegler is becoming an interesting little game within the game for the last spot when Frelick returns (looks to me like a healthy lead for Black right now).

The 1-3 hitters in the lineup went 0 for 11. That's pretty brutal. ... Don't win many games scoring just 1 run. ... Seems we did have a lot of hard hit balls hit right at defenders, though. A bit unlucky today?

Black is just awful defensively no matter where he plays

He needs a change of scenery … maybe he can be part of a trade if one takes place

I'm not a huge Black fan for that exact reason, but you can make the argument he's a better roster fit than Siegler right now. We shall see.

The choice will be both after adding a decent bat or two.
