Why? Until when? That’s his natural position.

Until he's closer to 100%. How do I know he isn't? Because he isn't in CF, and I'm pretty sure they aren't trying to throw games by not putting him there. I think it might be a case of him trusting himself more than anything.

He missed a month. Outside of 1B, LF is the least challenging spot on the diamond. They're being cautious.

CAN'T? No I'm not saying he can't. I'm saying it isn't a good idea since he felt that little tug or whatever it was the other day. Since then he hasn't played CF. Playing LF is easily the least challenging OF spot physically. I think he'll be back in CF eventually

100% correct call by Brewers we need Chourio for the playoffs, plane and simple.

He needs to be out there if he's healthy. The Perkins situation is killing them. He looks like he's about to cry every ab. You only get 27 outs a night. We keep handing the opposition 6-8 free outs a night. The Phillies had zero auto outs today. This is why even though they didn't score against him they got Freddy out early.

I think lockridge should be up instead.   He is competing.    I feel bad for Perkins because something personal is bothering him imo.   But this is professional sports too.    Perkins needs to get away from the pressure for awhile.

Pirates complete sweep over the Dodgers and will be ready for the Brewers as they limp in.

Too much Perkins and Siegler and Jansen and it will be in wild card round.

Bulldogboy, your just having a panic attack, go take a 30 min walk.

3-3 vs Blue Jays and Phillies I'll take. Not the nicest losses but that's baseball.

If they can go 12-9 or 11-10 for the rest of the season I will not mind. At this point, getting to the playoffs healthy is the priority.

I'll just repeat what I told @adambr2, they're obviously being cautious with him. LF is a lot less challenging than CF. If he's 100% & confident he can go all out he'd be playing CF. The fact he's in LF pretty much answers the question. The confidence to burst from a standstill position might be the biggest issue. Remember, he's never been hurt until now.

The bottom 3rd of the order can be a problem. But right now that's secondary to getting everyone where they need to be.

Nah, glad they got it out of their system against the Dodgers, good timing. :)

Then play Frelick. They do not have the luxury of having 3 automatic outs every night. Pitchers getting a free inning of outs every time through doesn't work. Suarez can go 7 Freddy 5 because of two innings worth of outs.

I was wondering the same thing re Perkins. Who knows?

I know everyone glosses over this, but defensively he's been as good as he's ever been, and that alone has won them games over the years. Lockridge did some impressive things but IMO it would have to be a pretty overwhelming issue for them to make that move. AFA the baseball part of it is concerned missing spring training didn't help.

Yeah.   We are in playoffs.    But you have to get a bye or regular season is a failure

I don't know if I would go that far.  However, I would be very disappointed if they don't get a first-round bye.

I think about Barry Alvarez's Wisconsin Badger football teams.  The goal was to win the Rose Bowl.  There was never any talk about winning a national championship.  I get taking care of business within the conference.  I would like to see some more banter about getting a first round bye vs. only winning the division.  Get a first round bye, and the division comes along for the ride.

Except it's "plain". 😁 Sorry. I do agree!

The Dodgers recently slump has basically guaranteed that we will get a bye — if we hold onto the division.

The schedule is plenty favorable for doing that, Just playing a couple games above .500 the rest of the way against teams we should beat should pretty much put it out of reach.

If we can’t even do that, well… we will have earned whatever happens.

Suarez went six not seven. Peralta has a problem with bad misses at times w/2 strikes, that more than anything else keeps him from going deeper.

I already said what I think re Frelick in CF, and apparently they agree. Trust me, they aren't going to dick around with the run prevention because of so-called 'automatic outs'. Look at it this way; If you're having trouble scoring runs, do you really want to mess with your best defensive lineup? And how much of an issue has it been, really? They scored 8 in the opener of this series, and then 6. In Toronto they scored 7, 4, and 4. Today Suarez who's been excellent, has the added advantage of a wide zone today (as did Peralta) and the guy shut us down. He's done that to folks before.

Another snippet re the defensive side of the ball: he wasn't out there today, but maybe Frelick catches the ball in RF that went for the triple? I'm not surprised he wasn't in the lineup. Just illustrating something most folks overlook.

At the end of the day, I wouldn't be surprised if Chourio is in CF this weekend.

You don't think Frelick needs to get a day off to heal up a little?  Heck a month ago he could hardly walk. Remember these?  Sal Frelick leaves the game with hamstring strain.  Sal Frelick out indefinitely after MRI shows bone bruise. Sal Frelick exits game due to left knee soreness.

I'm as disappointed as anyone with these last few weeks. But there's some logic in "taking your foot off the gas" and using this time to assess whatever resources you have or don't have, and to give some guys a breather. How to do that successfully without getting stale or blowing a division lead? Glad I don't have to figure that out to make a living.  I WOULD like to see us get our mojo back sooner or later.

I think what would aggravate me more if we choke this away is everyone that have been hating on the brewers would be right in calling us a fluke.   This team needs to finish this regular season off.

Well again as I have said I would love for Sal to be able to take a day off. I would love for Contreras to have a day off. The problem is they have a bench of Jansen Perkins Siegler and Bauers. That's not my fault. It's not even Murphy fault. The Phillies picked up Bader and they now have Casellons on the bench. He played the other day and had two hits. You can build a bench if you want. Brewers choose not to so guys have to play nicked up until we clinch imo.

My guess is this is currently the worst 4 man bench in baseball and it isn't close.

Did anyone else find it a bit silly that Murphy refused to say which reliever is going on the IL tomorrow?

Do you need to tell his family first, or are you waiting to make the big reveal on the Pat McAfee show? Good grief, man.
