Oh, I don’t think they can do anything else at this point. They made their bed At SS with Joey. I’m just not sure he should be the 2026 plan.

Like you, I’m curious to know what they will do for 2026.

Is a trade possible? How about a free agent signing? Will they wait on Pratt who is likely a better option for 2027?

Will someone please post this home plate umpires report card after the game?  I mean, he has been brutal both ways tonight.

Early this season Murphy benched Ortiz. He didn't like his approach. Now no matter what he plays. It almost feels like someone said hey you gotta play him and now Murphy is sticking with him no matter what. What changed? Weird situation.

This of course is deceiving. Getting a hit in a 10-0 game vs a hit in a bases loaded spot of a tight game is huge. Ortiz seems to be a guy who if it's a big spot he has no chance. Playoffs are full of big spots

It's not deceiving at all.  It's data.  You can say you're unpersuaded by it and that's fine.  But you can't rationally point at facts say their "of course deceiving" because he "seems" to be a guy who will fail in the playoffs.  I don't have a problem with wishing they had someone at SS who could hit for power and take more walks but that doesn't mean his actual results aren't real.

I don't think anything changed.  They're a small market team.  The front office didn't give him anyone else better (and no, Mona isn't better than Ortiz).  So he played him because he's a plus defender and the only other SS on the roster who can play the position as well is playing 2B and experienced shoulder soreness when he played SS earlier this year.  I don't think Murphy had much in the way of viable alternatives.  Front office is worthy of criticism for not addressing the position but I don't think Murphy is for using him.

I agree on 2026.  I'm not sure they do though.

All i am saying he has a bunch of hits in games that are decided. He may be hitting 265 or whatever all i know is he ain't exactly Derek Jeter in the clutch.

Murphy would rather let him pitch two innings in every game

You resisted commenting on Murphy for two whole minutes

Well, moving to Jeter as a comparison is quite the goalpost shift
