Meh, it's one game.

Hopefully we can get 6 full innings out of Freddy tomorrow, 7 would be a Godsend!

Go Brewers!

I mean, yes, but the pressure tomorrow is heightened quite a bit.

If you head to L.A. without a single win your chances of winning the series are somewhere between slim and none.

That takes a certain mindset, to not react the way most do & jackknife out of the way. Durbin has it. Most don't. I'm sure if he could rewind the AB..........

We lost, but at least he doesn’t have a bruised thigh.😆

Tomorrow id put out this lineup

Chourio

Yelich (lf)

Wild Bill

Bauers

Vaughn

Frelick

Durbin

Turang

Ortiz

Frelick in CF certainly opens the door to getting Bauers and Vaughn into the lineup. Might need to consider it with some RHP on the mound

Then at least don’t follow it up by swinging at a pitch 12 inches high.

Agreed. I imagine he guessed FB, got it & just sold out. Bad swing decision. I just have a problem with all the "just let it hit you" comments. It's a quirky sort of mindset that very few players have, especially when you're thinking about pitch, location, and have less than a second to process all that crap.

I think lowkey one of the most disappointing things about tonight is that you had one of the most insane plays in MLB history occur and instead of it being an enormous part of our 2025 World Series story it’s just a footnote now.

Hate getting beat by Freeman again too. We keep walking Ohtani but letting Freeman hit righty. Come on now.

You can't walk everyone, you have to pick your poison. And I'll bet Ohtani gets passed just a little more often Than Freeman. By everyone.

The way Snell threw tonight, that was my worst fear going in. Vs Philly in his last start it was like he wasn't actually physically pitching, but playing a video game where you can place every pitch exactly where you want it to land. Every time. Same thing tonite. All you can really do is be more woodpecker-ish, foul off pitches, don't ever chase, extend 3-2 counts so you tax him as much as you can. I would guess he had maybe half a dozen 3-2 counts, and we cashed in on none. Can't exaggerate how good he was.

Looking at his approach & where on the bat he made contact, Chourio came damn close to filling the gap in his last AB. Arghhhh.

Real kudos to Priester. And it looks like Megill might be a weapon from here on out.

I don't know if I've ever seen a more headsup play from a catcher, than what Contreras did in the bases-loaded situation. Magnificent. Also, that play was a 3B coaches' nightmare.

The bright side is the characteristics of what made us a 97-win team, returned in the bottom of the 9th (other than the Turang chase). Hopefully it carries over.

That play is actually one that was likely drilled in their brains since they were 10 years old. At least for the runner on 3.

I think now they played Sal in CF it opens the door.  You’re getting nothing from Perkins, Collins and Lockridge.  You would sacrifice D with Yelich playing the field but having both Bauers and Vaughn in the lineup could jumpstart the offense.  At the very least it gives the lineup some more pop.

Easy to say, Much harder to do when it is coming at you at 90+.  There are a few guys that had that mentality (Vina was mentioned above, Durbin), but it isn't always easy to do.

Actually, if you don't have that mindset, it's next to impossible. And most don't.

I think Bauers needs to play LF and hit higher in order….5th/6th.
No more Frelick CF….just let him play his Gold Glove position.
And I like him leading off….we were rolling with him in that spot all year. Murphy even talked as such….then playoffs we move off that.

Frelick, Chourio, Yelich,

Contreras, Bauers, Vaughn,

Turang, Durb, and Mona

I’m ok with the way we approached their hitters. Allowing 2 runs should win most games.

Yelich has gotta hit more. Turang has gotta hit more. Frelick has gotta hit more.

I know these are tough pitchers we’re going up against, but either you hit more and you give yourself a chance or you don’t and it was a nice season and see you in 2026. That’s unfortunately all there is to it.

So you want to lead off with the guy who has a .511 playoff OPS. Against lefties.

I’d be OK with this too for tomorrow. They need to have both Bauers and Vaughns bat in the lineup.

If we had won, it would've been highway robbery.

Agreed. If we had won, it would've been like some of the games we won during the incredible hot streak. And if we're talking about reaching & winning a WS, that's what has to happen. So let's let it play out, hope for better ABs the rest of the week, and muse over the fact that according to his comments CC apparently is in LA right now, without his team. Or anything remaining in his season. Long way to go.

I was at the game. I'm still baffled how the Brewers threw a guy out at home on a 404 foot fly ball.

That would’ve been a steal to get the win tonight. Would’ve been a gut punch to the Dodgers and a great way to set up Game 2.

Tomorrow moves right close to “must win” status for the Brewers. Can’t see them going on the road down 0-2 and needing to win twice in Los Angeles to stave off elimination.

With the travel day off, it would seem like Snell would line up for Game 5 in Los Angeles. Wouldn’t want to face him again without at least two games won in the series.

Gotta get a good Peralta start, which is reflective of his season at home. Get the bats going early and secure a lead. Don’t expect any comfortable games in this series, but playing with a 3-tun lead or so would be nice.

Theoretically. But I'm wondering how in the world he knew it was a force, unless an umpire gave it a palms down (if one did I didn't see it). Then to realize to go to 3B..........A ground ball is one thing, but zeroing in on a force play--at home, and third--on a drive that almost left the yard, I dunno, I was really impressed.

I used to train/run catchers through drills, and I never prepared anyone for something like that. I guess that's on me🤢.

What's crazy is the base runner didn't score from third.  Whether he caught it or not, he's in a tag up position so he could have just jogged home it was such a deep fly ball.

The problem is he was hundreds of feet away. He tagged up and left when Frelick jumped and originally had it in his glove. Once it popped out and he recaught it he returned to tag up again. That’s what he had to do if the ball had never hit the wall and he simply recaught his own unintentional juggle.

I was at the game and am scrolling through the game thread.
At the game with my old eyes I didn’t realize the ball had hit the wall so we didn’t know what had happened until we saw the replay on the scoreboard.

After seeing what happened I still couldn’t believe Hernandez didn’t tag up and score easily. When I got home and watched the play on the telecast, I could see that he tagged up, but went back when the ball popped out of Frelick’s glove and he caught it on the rebound.

That was Hernandez’s big mistake. It is a seemingly little known rule that a runner can tag up and advance once a fielder touches the ball, not when he “catches” it. So if he had just kept coming home, he would have scored. He did not have to go back and retag.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

He's in one of his classic Yelich ruts right now. 72% GB rate in the postseason. Back to rolling over everything
