From the Yankees to the Mets?

Good luck Devin, may you find success against teams not named brewers

This is really a random Brewers post, but there is a character in the new season of Stranger Things named Derrick Turnbow.

https://www.sportingnews.com/us/mlb/milwaukee-brewers/news/new-stranger-things-character-also-mlb-all-star-brewers/62a6209647a3040ba70930ac

And if you factor in when the Stranger Things show takes place, they're pretty much the same age.

The new season takes place in November 1987. The guy who turned into the MLB pitcher would've been 9 years old then. While it's not specifically stated in the show, that seems like a ballpark age for the fictional Derek, too.

Did someone writing the script have a strong Brewers fandom? It sure seems possible.

The Pirates have made Kyle Schwarber a four-year offer, sources told The Athletic.

The report says it’s probably worth more than $100 million. Of course, it’s going to be tough for the Pirates to land a free agent like Schwarber, not only because they’re the Pirates but also because their ballpark isn’t very hitter friendly and especially not home run friendly (although at least it’s better for lefties than righties in that regard). As they’ve already done once this winter, their best hope is probably to trade pitching for hitting and then perhaps they could spend to fortify their rotation afterwards.

The Pirates are at least making an effort so far this off season...  They know they have some pretty damn good young pitchers, so maybe they are going to give some actual effort in winning for once.

I HIGHLY doubt Schwarber even considers an offer to play in Pittsburgh though.

I don’t buy it. I think the Pirates are leaking their interest and offers to avoid a grievance from the MLBPA. I don’t sincerely think they are pursuing Schwarber. Oh you can’t file a grievance against us. We tried to sign FA but nobody would sign here.

Yeah they know 4 years for “ probably over 100 million “ ain’t going to get it done……not for them.

He's going to get a good contract ……probably 5 years…..with lots of choices he isn’t choosing the Pirates unless they would massively overpay…….and even then probably not.

As suspected

I thought maybe he would go to the Blue Jays but it looks like they missed on another big bat.
