That's what I'm saying. On 3rd and 3, I'd have ran it. If you DON'T get it, I'd have punted.

But... I'm sure everyone who agrees this was the wrong decision is JUST as happy as I am to be wrong!

I like going for it, it's 3 yards. If it doesn't work they still have to go down and score a TD. I like our defense enough to live with that.

I would've rolled Love out on 3rd down (easy throw or short run).  But I like the 4th down going for it.  Punting doesn't gain much anyway.

I mean... a good punt and they start inside the ~10 or so.

But I agree with you. I would have run the RPO and taken the P out of it on 3rd down. But again, you can't complain about LaFleur not trusting Love all year and then... get upset when he trusts him and he hits the WR in the hands on 3rd and 4th down.

There cannot be a SHRED of doubt at this point Love is CAPABLE of being a top 3-5 QB and an MVP. You can still doubt his consistency, but... he can make any throw and he can create with his legs.

Now I'm just worried we get bad news about Wyatt. REALLY hoping for an MCL or a high ankle sprain.

that's why you play to win the game

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Lions might have to win at Chicago the last week to get into the playoffs.

That's kinda crazy.

The loss of Ben Johnson has cost them at least 2 games. Frank Ragnow coming back may have been a week too late.

Dallas next week is a must win.

Detroit is far too talented to be a 7-5 team.

Punt into the end zone nets like 20 yards. Even not converting that was 100% the right call up by 7. Up a field goal you maybe think about punting, but a punt is completely useless there.

Yes after thinking about it, going for it was right call. Either way the defense has to stop them on 4th down or get a turnover when there is almost 2 minutes left. More chances of that if they start at 20 or inside but still you play to win with a 7 point lead. Should have run on 3rd and punted if failed though.

What a game for Wicks. Can't believe they went for it but considering 2 minutes on the clock how confident were you to stop the Lions?

I've been a huge fan of Wicks and hope this earns him more targets.

I DO feel there's SOME hint that this is similar to the 2010 season if you can get all the WRs healthy, you have';

Watson
Golden
Reed
Doubs
Wicks
Williams

Musgrave... who made some big play today.

Anthony Belton has also been A HUGE piece to this OL. Had a whole lot of Alim McNiel, was moving guys at the point of attack, opening some holes.

I think we hit on him. Either as a future OT(he could be a RT next year, Tom as a LT) or just right where he is.

I was so worried watson going out of bounds was going to cost us.  I would have run on that last third down as well, but I'm guessing it was probably one of those try to catch them flat-footed expecting a run type thoughts.  So happy it worked out in the end though!

I think Morgan has played himself pretty far into the bench at this point.

Shaping up to be a bigger bust than some of our more recent chesty pics.

Yeah, but it would've been pretty hard to stop (and perhaps an injury risk to do so).

I was hoping for a Love roll-out on third down.  Play action with Jacobs going left, Love rolls right and runs for a 1st down or have an easy pass to a WR crossing over.

But either way, I would've gone on 4th down. It was nice to finally just control the clock and not hope the defense will stop them.

I still have a lot of hope for Morgan, but he is just not a good fit at Guard(especially RG) now that we've gone to a gap blocking scheme. He's just not physical enough.

But at OT? He's athletic and I think he can be a pretty good LT. You can just see it in his pass blocking vs his run blocking. He's just not physical enough to move NTs or DTs, but he's good in pass protection.  I don't know though, I haven't seen enough of him at LT.

We'll see next year and I think they should make some moves on the OL(move on from Banks, Jenkins probably gone unless he'll take a new restructured contract) and maybe you have to go back to FA and spend... which is less than ideal. Tyler Linderbaum(the ghost of drafting a Center from OSU instead of Oklahoma still haunting us).

But I'm not convinced he's a bust yet. It IS two years into his career and he hasn't made a significant impact though, so I can't argue that he is a bust as of now.

On a side note... I wonder if the Packers franchise Walker. His projected salary is 4/90 and... if you can pick up a 3rd or a 4th... could be worth it. Or risk a big cap hit.

Sean Rhyan playing well at center though, THAT is something I never would have seen coming.

My personal call would have been to run it on 3rd and 3, and if you convert it’s over, if you don’t you can take the delay and hopefully pin them inside their 10 with a minute or so left and no timeouts. But obviously happy it worked out.

I really thought they were setting up the Lions for an end-around on 3rd down.  Risk is running out of bounds, but you know they were keying on Jacobs.  I thought the outside would be there.

It wouldn’t have been a bad idea, but if you’re going to go the sideline at all you better pick up the first. If it’s not there you just go down.

Yes, I don't mind putting it in the D's hands with 1:20 left and a 7 point lead and Detroit starting inside the 20 with no timeouts.

Look at stats everything was crazy even except this one:

We were sort of lucky on both 4th down TD's, any sort of bobble on either and it's Detroit's ball. I didn't hate going for it either situation, Campbell's decisions were more questionable, especially not taking the FG down 10 in the 4th.

The punt play and 3rd down play are going to take probably 15 combined seconds, so I’d say about 1:05 when they get it back. Obviously can’t predict the field position but Whelan is very good and I’d guess pins it around the 10.

I know people would have been nervous and I would have been among them but that would have been extremely high percentage for our defense. Have to go 90 yards, try to work the sidelines so we’re going to try to funnel everything to the middle and at worst it probably comes down to a Hail Mary attempt.
