I must admit, I do not see why the Brewers did this, unless the Brewers' pitching coaches can somehow turn Zerpa around.

Matt Arnold absolutely loves trading for relievers with really iffy numbers.  We'll see if this one works out.

I can definitely see the rationale in swapping Mears for Zerpa. The difference, though seems a lot less than Collins.

Mears and Collins could both turn into pumpkins in 2026. Zerpa seems like a guy that can be effective, even if he’s not a needle mover 🙂

It seems to me that the Brewers thought Isaac Collins’ 2025 season was an aberration. Unfortunately, it seems that 29 other teams thought so as well.

Zerpa could be an interesting guy. The high GB% should play well with our FIP beater defense. Collins AND Mears feels a bit steep though. Maybe some cash comes our way? 

Best of luck to Isaac. Hopefully he can stick in the bigs. It certainly feels like he can earn a spot when the competition is Isbel, Lane Thomas, Tolbert and Rave

Collins/Mears for Zerpa is one of those trades where on paper it looks bad, but I have absolute 100% faith in Arnold & Co. when it comes to pitching

I’m torn because this trade seems quite lopsided, but the Brewers seem to know what they’re doing with pitching
