Giants signed INF Eddys Leonard to a minor league contract.

Leonard heads out west after slashing .287/.371/.502 with 12 homers and eight steals in 288 plate appearances for Triple-A Nashville in Milwaukee’s system earlier this season. The 25-year-old infielder has yet to reach the majors despite being a noteworthy prospect for the Dodgers and Tigers within the last half-decade. He could get a look with the Giants following their impending fire sale at the upcoming trade deadline.

I still don't fully understand why we just outright cut him...

RHP Peter Strzelecki signs a new Minor League contract <gulps> with the St. Louis Cardinals. Best of luck to Peter as he opted for FA and finds an opportunity very quickly!

Nice to see 35-year old RHP Kevin Herget reach the majors for the 5th consecutive season, despite missing 3 months due to injury this year.

Giants recalled INF Eddys Leonard from Triple-A Sacramento.

Leonard had slashed .287/.371/.502 with 12 homers and eight steals in 288 plate appearances for Triple-A Nashville in Milwaukee’s system before being let go. In just eight games in Sacramento, Leonard has hit .143/.273/.571 with four home runs and five RBI. The 25-year-old has played second base, third base, and right field this season, but figures to get a chance to see regular reps at second base with Luis Arraez now in Philadelphia.

On Thursday, LHP Mark Manfredi, Sr. found out what the Pacific Coast League is about in his Rockies' AAA debut, surrendering four runs upon entering in the 8th as a 6-2 lead became a tie game (got two outs, left with bases loaded, all three runs scored on a bases-clearing double). His teammates picked him up in the next half inning for a 7-6 Albuquerque win.

Also a part of the Senzatela trade with Colorado, 19-year-old Juan Martinez is off to a flying start for Fresno in the California League, 4-for-9 batting second and playing second base in each of his first two games.

Martinez has tripled in both games, here's the first:
