That's not what I'm referring to.

"Overcharging" is, like you mentioned, charging a felony instead of a misdemeanor for example.  Usually the difference between charges is the intention of the person being charged - did they intend to commit the crime?  Is it murder or manslaughter?  The difference is the intention of the person being charged.

But they still have evidence.  You blew .06; you were, technically, drinking and driving, and they had evidence to prove it.  People can still be convicted of DUI even if they are below .08 depending on their behavior - did they blow a stop sign, did they cross the center line, did they endanger someone else, etc.  Chances are you did something to warrant them pulling you over in the first place.  They were trying for the DUI because of the intention of drinking and driving and behavior causing them to pull you over.  But you were absolutely drinking and driving, and they had evidence to prove it.

I'm referring to not having evidence to support the charge.  The example in your case would be that their breathalyzer didn't work, or you were driving erratically but blew 0.00.  There is not enough evidence to support the charge.

Baseball isn't much better. Yet here you are.

I haven't watched a baseball game since Lyin' Ryan got busted.  Haven't bought any sport merchandise in over 10 years.  The only reason I'm still here is that I have an interest in player transaction and roster building.  If everything was like it was in the old days (no free agency, draft coverage non-existent), it's pretty much a guarantee that I would not be posting or even looking at any sports message forum.

Right. You can get a DUI at .06, but it’s a weak case. It’s not 95% likely to get a conviction. If it was, they wouldn’t offer a deal.

And no, I had a bulb out on my back license plate. Nothing more.

Hopefully this is the “it’s preseason and most of these guys won’t make the team anyway” defense for the Packers.

I can't remember when I've been less excited about a packer season.

Most of that goes back to the facts that they didn't ditch MLF and then they had a chance.

Now we're going to be stuck in purgatory much like Pittsburgh was before they finally ditched Tomlin

I am not buying the defense for a second but it's not based on anything preseason. They were just bad, really bad, once Micah went down. He's not playing for months. They are not going to be good.

It's like a weird phenomenon where people have had time to adjust to him being out and convinced themselves it isn't a big deal. It's an absolutely huge deal.

I think most people were saying last season when he went down that we were toast. So I think people know it’s a huge deal.

They shouldn’t be atrocious, though. They were a top 5-10 defense in 2024 before Micah with most of the same supporting cast otherwise, They shouldn’t have been as bad as they were without him,

I didn't see the game last night but I assume since we came back from an eleven point deficit with 3:24 left in the game that Love didn't call any receiver screens on 3rd and long.

An RPO (Run-Pass Option) is an offensive play in football where the quarterback chooses to either hand the ball off for a run or pull it back to throw a quick pass, based on how a specific defender reacts after the snap

Individual team tendencies vary wildly. For instance, tracking data from groups like Sharp Football Analysis showed that teams like the Green Bay Packers dialed up wide receiver screens as part of an RPO upwards of 84.8% of the time, while other heavy screen users like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or Kansas City Chiefs sat closer to 43% and 47.8%

Data from 2021

Right but that isn't the narrative right now. The narrative is that they'll be amazing after Thanksgiving because they'll be a winning team and THEN get Micah Parsons! I am not convinced this is a .500 team without Micah Parsons. Whatever they did 2 years ago with the same cast means very little in the NFL.

Let's remind everyone they have yet to win a game without Micah Parsons. Shouldn't be that bad, agreed, but my point is what I said: it's like the time without him has led people to adjust and sort of bizarrely gloss over the fact that our cornerstone defensive player isn't playing.

You don't think that missing Tucker Kraft, Zach (formerly Tom) B-B, and Devonte Wyatt contributed to that?

McCord making some really tough decisions.

Wouldn't be surprised if they IR-R Savion Williams, keep Sturdevant as the 6th WR, and keep 3 QBs.

QB - 3 (Love, Taylor, McCord)
RB - 3 (Jacobs, Lloyd, Brooks)
TE - 3 (Kraft, Smith, Whyle)
WR - 6 (Watson, Golden, Reed, Melton, Moore, Sturdivant)
OL - 9 (Morgan, Banks, Rhyan, Monk, Zach B-B, Belton, Burton, Williams, one of Jennings/Kinnard)
DL - 6 (Wyatt, Hargrave, Brooks, McClellan, Brinson, Ford)
OLB - 5 (LVN, Sorrell, Cox, DDS, Oliver)
ILB - 5 (Franklin, Cooper, McDuffie, Hopper, Niemann)
CB - 5 (Nixon, Cisse, Valentine, BS-J, Jackson)
S - 5 (McKinney, Williams, Bullard, Oladapo, Hadden)
Specialist - 3 (Smack, Whelan, Adomitis)

Sweating bullets today - Kinnard, Jennings, Jackson, Moore, Melton.

They will have key guys get hurt again. It happens every year. Kraft was probably the one they felt the least, they were able to move forward productively at least. I don't mean to diminish any of those names, because they all, at worst, in the top 10 Packers...but when you pay an elite player like Parsons, you're in a lot of trouble when he gets hurt.

Cal Adomitis released.

The loyalty that this organization has to Matt Orzech, who has consistently graded out as one of the worst long snappers in the NFL, is baffling.

Orzech sucks. He was awful in 2024, and not much better in 2025. Why do we as an organization do things like this?

If Smack, whose operation with Adomitis was perfect in the pre-season, starts missing kicks in the regular season, all eyes should be on the coaching staff and front office.

I wonder how many more years of mediocrity before new leadership.

I'm worried the Packers like Pittsburgh will piss away a decade.

MLF is the Mike Tomlin of the North. Not terrible but not good either.

And Guty is a poster child for average.

McCord traded to the Dolphins for the 2028 sixth round pick they got from Jacksonville in trading for Quinn Ewers.

Seems like a mistake to me. Let's hope Love doesn't miss any playing time this year.

They have definitely kind of settled in to being the Pittsburgh Steelers of the NFC.

And they seem perfectly content with that.

I definitely preferred McCord over Tyrod.

However, knowing what they were going to try to do anyway, which is cut McCord and try unsuccessfully to sneak him onto the practice squad, I guess I will take the 6th.

Here’s hoping Love doesn’t get hurt at all this season.

I think there is too much focus on MLF and not enough on Gute.

I mean, McCord was signed off a PS and converted to a 6th Rd pick. That's just good Asset acquisition and management. GB can find and develop another PS QB OR trade for another back-up. I think the Malik Willis acquisition and development makes this glaringly obvious. What the heck are we complaining about here?

Now, on the other hand, how GB values Ozrech and how they develop or manage the O-Line under this evolving regime? Plug away! 😅

Will Sheppard got cut, so get ready for another exciting season of the most pointless player in football, Bo Melton.
