interesting move, but I have no idea who is playing 3rd this year now. Nice to get back a young lefty though for someone who is more of a utility guy rather than every day 3rd baseman.

Pretty slim pickings on the free agent front now. Ty France is still out there. Wilmer Flores, Ramon Urias, Adam Frazier, Tim Anderson, Luis Urias, and Gio Urshela are all utility types at this point in their careers.

What

I tried to log in on my iPad. Turns out it was an etch-a-sketch and I don't own an iPad. Also, I'm out of vodka.

I would have to think this was a precursor to another move, I'm fine with moving Durbin because I never thought he was a every day 3rd baseman and his value is high right now, but it seems like the possible replacements in the minors are still a year away.

Yeah this one is really hard to understand. I'm guessing Jett Williams and Ortiz on the left side with Hamilton as backup or stopgap. Not sure we really needed Harrison.

Harrison is the headliner here. 24-year-old lefty with a Top 100 pedigree and mid 90s, top-of-the-rotation type stuff and years of control. I'm surprised the Red Sox gave up on him as soon as they did. But the Red Sox did give us Priester last year, so I don't have a ton of confidence in how they evaluate pitching talent.

That's my confusion, too. Next offseason would have made more sense without potentially having to rush prospects. Obviously they see Jett as ready to get a lot of playing time, but you'd think his rookie status would bring more caution to that thought, plus his versatility would have given him tons of ABs already. Plus if Mitchell misses a lot of time again and Perkins struggles, that should mean Williams at CF more and at that point who plays 3B?

Or the Brewers are just scared about their pitching depth for next season and a 3b need is better than a SP/RP one.

Wow, I'm shocked. Kind of feel bad for Durbin. He seemed to be a great fit with the Brewers culture and looked like he was loving life with the team.

Also sad to see Mona go. He'll always be one of my all-time favorite Brewers.

Milwaukee Brewers traded CF Jackie Bradley Jr., SS David Hamilton and 3B Alex Binelas to Boston Red Sox for RF Hunter Renfroe.

Welcome back Mr. Hamilton. I think, given the current makeup of the team, I would have preferred Binelas.

Glad they sold high on Durbin.  He was good last year, but I had no faith in him going forward personally.

Paredes was my first thought as well.

If I was a Boston fan, I would be so confused. As a Brewer fan, I have a lot of questions.

Lightning reaction:  that's really an odd and surprising trade unless something else is coming. Can make a case for Harrison as a valuable add, and if this was a couple of years ago nobody would believe we got him for so cheap. Brewers tend not to get caught up in last year's numbers and look at long term value.

Are we flipping Harrison to Houston for Paredes?

Getting Paredes is the only way this trade makes any sense.

12 of the Brewers current Top 30 prospects are 3B-capable players. Only 3 are left handed pitchers. When you look at it in that context, it makes a lot of sense.
