I liked Spencer Jones before he had a good week of spring training. I assume we have enough position depth to not need to acquire someone else at this point, but wouldn’t this type of three true outcomes player be fun?

New batting stance. An interesting contrast to the rest of the Milwaukee lineup.

So far this spring, Jones is 2 for 6 with the pair of homers, four strikeouts and a walk (Baseball America newsletter)

I like Spencer Jones a bunch as well but I don't think the Yanks would sell cheap on him. Every time you hear a Yankee fan mention him he is looked at as the second coming of Judge. The big strikeout numbers don't worry me a ton because of the power, speed, and other intangibles being solid. With Judge, Grisham, Bellinger, Dominguez, and Jones they clearly could trade someone. However they can leave Jones in AAA for a bit until Stanton gets injured and then they would likely have playing time to spread out especially if Bellinger is needed at 1st base occasionally (Rice/Goldy is solid).

I though that earlier in the offseason a Megill for Jones/Dominguez and a pitching prospect would have made a lot of sense but maybe something could get worked out early in the year with some of our starting depth. If the Yanks have an injury or 2 to there starters and ours stay healthy and CF has issues something based on Jones for 1 of Henderson/Harrison/Sproat/Patrick could work.

So If I'm reading this right he has literally been a TTO guy so far in ST? 2 HR, 4 SO, 1 BB in his 7 PA?

Jones only had a wRC+130 in AAA last year. Pretty much a guy who maybe league average if the Ks don't kill him at MLB.

I would veto everyone of those trades.

I wouldn't trade any one of the guys you mentioned for Jones straight up, no way in hell.

Yah, I am a Jones skeptic. I looked up the list of guys who have posted 35% K-rates at AAA since Fangraphs has had minor league stats. If you include only guys who did it when they were still rising prospects instead of former MLBers trying to hang on, I think Gallo has more WAR than the rest of them put together. Let’s put it this way, if Keon Broxton qualified (he didn’t because his came after his primary big league time), he would have been second behind Gallo in career WAR. Eric Haase is in the top 4.

I really don't have much interest in Joey Gallo 2.0 IF things work out.

Joey Gallo was a 3 WAR guy for 5 years.  I'd take that.

That seem pretty unlikely for Jones though.

I wrote something "based off" Jones for one of the young starters nothing about straight up. Also the would need to be OF issues before I would consider that option.

This is what you wrote:

To me, that looks like you are proposing one of those players mentioned straight up for Jones.  If that isn't what you meant, sorry for the confusion, but still, I wouldn't give up any of those players if Jones is the center piece of a deal from the Yankees.

Sorry, to me based on would mean Jones and more for 1 of those pitchers. I would think value wise we should get Jones and then a top 10 Yankee prospect for on of those guys. It would be hard to figure value because in a couple months when this trade would be plausible to me the values of guys can change alot.
