It seems natural to want #52 at #52, right?

Christen Miller - Georgia Bulldogs Defensive Tackle - ESPN

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

The writers from the Journal-Sentinel did a podcast yesterday, and Silverstein kept mentioning running back and Jadarian Price and Mike Washington.  #52 is looking like a bad spot for the Packers.  I have to admit that I wouldn't be shocked.  If the Packers end up drafting a backup running back at #52 (Price), I can see half the fanbase going nuts, although my gut feeling is that Price is a bit smaller than Gutekunst would like.  Washington is definitely in play.

If he makes it to #52, he will very likely be the pick.  But I don't think he makes it to #52.

Kyron Jones is a much less interesting QB visit than I expected....  Why keep this a "secret"?

Packers hosted Virginia Tech QB Kyron Drones on official pre-draft visit

"Rock, sometime, when the team is up against it, and the breaks are beating the boys, tell 'em to go out there with all they got and win just one for the Uecker. I don't know where I'll be then, Rock but I'll know about it; and I'll be happy."

I kind of hope that there is a list of 3-4 guys the Packers are targeting for #52 and if they don't make it... trade back.  Pick up Orange and another 4th/5th.

I'm kind of curious, anybody get the feeling the Packers might be trying to trade up? Not necessarily into the first round (which I think is very unlikely) but from Gute's comments it seems like he's willing to spend a little in draft capital to get a guy if the situation is right. Now that can be true at any time but it kind of gives me the feeling it could be what they're really going to try to do, as in a slightly more chance of it happening than in a typical year.

I will say that there are a lot of players in the 40 range that seem like Packer targets:

  • Edge: Lawrence, Young
  • DT: Hunter, Miller, Banks
  • CB: Cisse

But then again... listening to a GM talk before the draft seems kind of pointless. 😂

If one of those don't fall, I'm hoping for a trade back to grab Orange and then build depth in the mid rounds at CB and OL.

Every year Packers Wire does an "Unpacking Future Packers" series where they profile 100 draft prospects who they think have some fit with the Packers.  They always count down to #1, with #1 being the player they think the Packers will take with their first pick.  This morning they came out with #1.

Guess who they chose?

Did you nut in real time when you clicked the article? Asking for a friend.

(Honestly, I still don't know if I understand. I am feeling as old as my 80-yo dad more and more as each day passes)

"Nutting" as in hitting square, such as a golf shot that hit directly in the center of the sweet spot on the club face.  Absolutely nailed it.

Has it been a long winter there?  🙃

Here is what AI thinks 😀:

Priority Day 2 Targets (Rounds 2-3)

With picks at No. 52 and No. 84, the Packers are expected to target immediate starters or high-impact rotational players to pressure their own veterans.

  • Lee Hunter (DT, Texas Tech): A massive first-team All-American nose tackle who could anchor the interior run defense.

  • Chris Brazzell II (WR, Tennessee): A 6'4" deep threat with a wide catch radius to replace the recently traded Dontayvion Wicks.

  • Germie Bernard (WR, Alabama): A versatile weapon with elite route-running and punt-return experience.

  • Chris McClellan (DT, Missouri): A rising interior pass rusher who could provide the "splash plays" Green Bay missed last season.

  • Ty Simpson (QB, Alabama): While Jordan Love is the franchise guy, scouts suggest Green Bay might maintain their "QB-development" strategy by taking a high-upside backup on Day 2.

Day 3 Values & Sleepers (Rounds 4-7)

The Packers hold six picks on Day 3, including an extra fifth-rounder (No. 153) acquired from the Eagles.

  • Brian Parker II (OL, Duke): A classic Packers target with a 9.76 Relative Athletic Score (RAS) and the versatility to play center or tackle.

  • Trey Smack (K, Florida): A specialist with a huge leg (school record 10 FGs over 50 yards) to compete for the kicking job.

  • Drew Stevens (K, Iowa): Another high-level kicker prospect who tied the Kinnick Stadium record with a 58-yarder.

  • Jacob Rodriguez (LB, Texas Tech): A high-motor "tackle machine" who could instantly upgrade the special teams units.

Lol

AI nailed the Smack pick

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006
