Growing increasingly concerned about the lack of Luis Pena in the lineup. Any updates I may have missed?

Sounds like he’s fine and has been okay since it happened but they are still trying to figure out what happened. I think he was scheduled to see a neurologist yesterday. I think they are just proceeding with extreme caution.

I know it’s only 103 PA but 41 strikeouts and below 60% contact rate for a 1st round pick who was supposed to be a fast mover is becoming a legit concern for me with Fischer. It’s still a relatively small sample but if your swing is being exposed in A+ like this then how are you going to look in AA or higher?

It's a strange and concerning sample indeed. Given what we saw in ST and the WBC it's also confounding. Is it a case of overly pressing?

Ugh, Marco Dinges didn't come out to catch for the bottom of the 4th.

Was just noticing they swapped in Blayberg Diaz after he threw out a runner at 2B. All while seeing Fischer and Bitonti are a combined 0-for-6 with 6 K. Pain.

Pretty sure I read somewhere that they sent him in to get some different type of scans last weekend. I think it was a brain scan but that seems more worrisome to me then what I remember from the post.

This May 1st update was as formal a response as we've seen, So, Pena was seen just yesterday and it's no surprise there is not immediate news beyond that, one way or the other.

Low-A Wilson play at Astros’ affiliate Fayetteville this week, with 20-year old RHP Jarrette Bonet aiming to build on last week’s terrific start (6 IP, 0 R, 2 Ks). 18-year old RF Handelfry Encarnacion has 10 RBIs and 3 game-changing homers over his last 3 games.

AA Biloxi have dropped 5 straight games and host Braves’ affiliate Columbus this week. RHP Tyson Hardin needs to bounce back from a rough start last week (4.2 IP, 7 R (6 ER), 6 Ks). RF Damon Keith has homered in 4 of his last 8 games

From a human standpoint I hope we let Pena rest and get tested as much as he and his family needs to be comfortable with playing baseball again.

From a selfish/team investment standpoint the Brewers likely have a 2028 earmark on Pena helping the big league club team at the earliest? MAYBE late 2027 if things go incredibly well? So that is somewhere between 16-24 months away from a multi multi million dollar player arriving... it would be malpractice to worry about the next few weeks unnecessarily to get him back on the field in the grander timeline of his baseball journey.

Hope he clears everything and we see him soon. Would not be surprised though if they give him all spring and we don't see him again until June/July.

GameDay seems to be having trouble figuring out Joey Broughton (great to see him debut!). I see he's topping out around 90. As I think about Tayden Hall’s early success in 2026, I must remind myself to be patient with these high school picks. Some of them take off immediately and fly through the system but others don’t. Most of them experience mixed results and often some injuries too. What I’m try to say is give Joey a long leash.

I saw a clip of Cam Schlittler in A ball as a 22 year old a few days ago and it was not impressive. 3 years later he looks like one of the best pitchers in MLB. These teenage pitching prospects have such a long runway to go and pitching prospects feel so much more likely to come out of nowhere and be good than hitting prospects do.

Sam Garcia with a real rough inning in Biloxi. Top of the 9th tie game and he allowed 3 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks. Edwin Jimenez also struggled, giving up 2 runs in an inning of work in the 8th.

It would be a lot more comforting if we got a glimpse of guys getting their velo up. I get a little jealous seeing teams like the Red Sox immediately bumping them up a couple ticks (granted those are college guys and our oldest high schooler of this bunch is Letson).

Hard to be patient.
