I am legit flabbergasted by the HR totals off both Wichrowski (3 HR allowed tonight - now 12 allowed on his season) and Manuel Rodriguez. Is this the balls? Or their weaknesses getting pounced on?

On at least one occasion tonight it appeared the batter was just sitting fastball on Wichrowski. Wich wasn’t able to land his cutter or slider for a strike in that at bat and the batter demolished a high fastball in a hitters count.

Juan Ortuno hit the go-ahead jack in the late innings of a shootout - his second of his day (!!) and his first two Low-A long balls, no less! Wilson starts a new streak winning 13-11.

Have a ball game, Juan!

Hard not to be enthralled by the OF trio of Antunez, Frías, and Fenelon. Fenelon has a triple tonight. Antunez has two doubles. RHP Griffin Tobias also pitched a clean 1 H, 1 K inning in his first live game work since last season's injury

22 steals for the affiliates tonight and that includes only 1 each for AAA and AA, who had underwhelming offensive nights. 20 steals between Rookie ball, Wilson and Appleton.

Just in case anyone was wondering who the Brewers are targeting for their system...

Luis Lara has made big strides in his batted ball quality in May. The first picture is his radial chart in April. the second is his radial chart in May. Feel like these do a really good job of showing the better angles Lara his hit the ball at this month. The concentration of pop ups and negative LA ground balls are both much smaller.

Here are his expected numbers on contact in April and May

April - .251 xBA, .399 xSLG, .279 xwOBA

May - .334 xBA, .454 xSLG, .340 xwOBA

I feel like this also illustrates why Avg LA is a pretty flawed stat. Lara has the same Avg LA in May that he did in April. In May he has 18 of 50 batted balls between 8 and 32 LA (sweet spot) which is 36% of his batted balls. In April he had 20 of 88 batted balls between 8 and 32 LA which is 23%. For some clarity on what those numbers mean, 36% would be 68th percentile in MLB and 23% would be 2nd percentile in MLB

It's very nice to see all three have some positive trends.

It’s been a struggle for LHP Justin Chambers (20th round 2023, $547,500, then recovering from Tommy John, quickly traded to Dodgers in Bryan Hudson deal). Faced the T-Rats Thursday.
