Yeah, I wish Murphy would've gone with Miz today instead, but I guess he figured to save him for a divisional rival.

I don’t hate it, you have to play the long game with Miz and Harrison this year and make sure you have them at their best in October, but this rotation is not very deep with Woodruff and Priester on the shelf.

I like Logan. If Priester doesn’t recover soon and start showing some signs of last years’ guy in his rehab starts, they may need to look for a starter in July.

Well, missed his spot on the HR, but oddly I'd rather have that than pitching scared like Drohan did with Tucker.  Got in front of him and then pitched like he was terrified of him until he had to throw a strike with predictable results.  Some of the same stuff was going on yesterday.

If any team is going to expose the back half of the rotation and the and back half of your pen, it's the Dodgers.  That happened yesterday with both and today (eventually) with Sproat.  Sproat coming in giving things the gas can treatment is pretty disappointing.

Ah well.  Even if they don't win today (lol) they're 14-6 on the month with Mis and Harrison to open the Cardinals series.

Go Brewers!

When I saw Gasser & Sproat listed as starting pitchers for this Dodgers series, this is exactly the result I anticipated.

I just really hate the Dodgers.

Losing to them sucks.  I don't hate the team really.  I do hate their fans who act like the Dodgers are playing the same game everyone else is.  They are if it's a 6 team league, and I'll give them credit for being good at using their massive resource advantage (unlike, say, the Mets who are not good at it), but their fans act like they were the only team who thought to try to acquire Ohtani.

I have very little concern about our pitching in general. But this series has shined a spotlight on the same offensive issues that killed us in the NLCS last year. Can't expect to manufacture runs 100% of the time. We've scored in 4 out of 22 innings this series. Never going to win anything with those numbers, no matter how big the innings are.

Most of it comes down to having 3 abysmal hitters in our lineup every day.

Crow has had 10 nice ML innings but 35 AAA mediocre ones this year. He will get more opportunities to pitch but there is a reason he is in AAA.

I see no reason Sproat and Gasser belong on our MLB roster other than we are desperate for starters due to the Woody and Priester injuries.

Crow and Patrick have both made the most of their opportunities.  Winning organizations give folks a chance, but there is a time to cut bait.

there is a reason that Sproat and Gasser were the second/third piece when they were traded here.

Henderson was shaky against the Dodgers in game 1 but he got it done.  Against most teams I think he's fine, and the pairing with Patrick, when it happens, makes his day nearly on a 2nd starter level.  4th and 5th spots are looking a little less secure than they were 10 days ago.

And I don't expect them to score any more this game. Even getting a hit is iffy right now.

Ortiz isn’t going to hit. I think there’s a large enough sample to accept it. Either we live with his bat in exchange for his glove, or we don’t. Right now we are, I suspect by seasons’ end, we won’t.

The real culprits of the offense as I mentioned are Frelick and Yelich. You cannot get this kind of production out of a corner outfielder who was one of our primary leadoff men last year. And you cannot get this kind of production out of a DH only player who is expected to produce in the 3-4 spot every day.

Well the Sproat experience is not going well so vet or youngster his spot needs to be addressed.

Why punt when we have better options?  Personally, I think the idea of punting is dumb when we can move people up and down on the shuttle.

and if we’re going to punt, send the fringe MLB players down after their start.  Gasser and Sproat are a waste of a roster spot over the next 4 games.  If our bullpen is getting taxed, might be nice to bring someone up who can contribute.

Arnold has done a phenomenal job bringing in talent… but we have approaching 10 guys on our 26 who just don’t meaningfully contribute

frelick and Yelich are struggling, but they have a solid mlb track record from other seasons.

hamilton, wood, rengifo, gasser, Perkins, Sproat no so much.

add that to guys like Ortiz, Sanchez, abd Hall that are normally the 25/26th men on the roster

Gasser has already been sent down for Carlos Rodriguez.

It's almost unfair. It would take a miracle on ice level upset for us to get by these guys in the playoffs.

How many guys do we have that would start for them? Two?

You need Miz, Harrison, Patrick and Ashby to chew up the vast majority of innings in a series against them. That’s the only hope.

Yelich is a streaky hitter. He'll have his hot streaks so not too concerned there. Frelick is the one I'm really disappointed in. He's only been a half step above the useless hitters on this team.

I brought up Frelick a few weeks ago. He is playing every day and swinging a wet newspaper. His spot is also in danger if it's me. This team needs a bopper in an outfield corner badly.

His mechanics are a mess right now and I don't trust anybody on staff to help fix it.

Having Vogelbach as hitting coach is bizarre to me. Might as well have Rob Deer coach hitting.

Frelick has all 3 options remaining.

It would have seemed very doubtful at the beginning of the season for him to ever be in danger of being sent down this season, but he would be wise to start getting it together.
