I remember how many people on this chatty board who wanted Abner, Ashby, Megill, etc etc thrown out of the organization while they were struggling and working on their games. Sproat might be a bust, or he might be a real asset. We just don't know yet.

Those guys did show actual promise and upside before struggling. Sproat has never shown a thing other than resembling Luigi but being likely worse at pitching than him,

Crow and Gasser have had struggles, but Sproat is on another level.  When there are healthy options, he should go down before them.

I remember when he got hurt again and we were told it was just minor and he wouldn't be gone long. No one should fall for talk like that, especially when it comes to Woody. I have no faith he can ever stay healthy or return to his usual form.

He’s Jimmy Nelson

I certainly don’t want us to trade three young top prospects for a three month (including playoffs) pitcher. We lose years of potential assets. Certainly no guarantee Skubal gets us past the Dodgers this year. So, I’m unapologetically against such a trade.

It would not cost that much. We only got two prospects for a year of Burnes, and neither one of them has been impressive. This isn't the 2000s anymore. Skubal may not guarantee we get past the Dodgers but not getting any legitimate third starter most certainly guarantees we won't. Time for Mark A and Arnold to put their money where their mouths are with all their "serious about going to/winning a World Series" and make a splash.

Does anyone?

Are you suggesting we send Detroit Perkins & Ortiz?

I mean if they will take it. 😅

I would be fine with Skubal but we do remember last NLCS right? Getting Skubal just means extra innings 0-0 maybe. This team continues to be 3 bats short with this version of Frelick.

I do not have an official opinion yet on the Rockies uniforms... But I have a hunch where I am leaning.

Take a stand, they are gross.  They are so gross that I like ours better than theirs, and that is saying a lot.

Not saying we don't have other needs, but just trading for a mediocre hitting third baseman would actually go pretty far considering what we have now.

I do like ours better than theirs and ours are not my favorite things.

Feels like a Jake Bauers relief appearance is coming.

Well. if we're down three in the seventh inning, I'm sure we will see him.

With everyone here hitting on sprout, I’ll go on record now and say he ends up being a stud for us. Young with good stuff and hook will pull it out of him

He won't, not if we continue trotting out a crapfest lineup.

All Skubal will do is allow us to get beat 1-0, 2-1 or 2-0.

Until we address the lineup, we won't be able to hang with the Dodgers as they have the pitching and the hitting.......................................imo.

He may very well, but until that happens, he shouldn't be in the starting rotation.

Sproat is not yet a big league starting pitcher. I believe he would already be in Nashville if we had healthy 40-man options to take his place.

I had hoped that this 12 game stretch against sub .500 teams would allow us to pad our lead. It looks like we are headed for a tough stretch of injury-related losses.

I don't know if I would go that far, but lot of really good pitchers started out looking really bad. But good coaches can see things we internet experts cannot.
