Via the Journal Sentinel Podcast: "How about a mid-week Microbrew for your earbuds? Host JR Radcliffe catches up with Spencer Michaelis, Brewers minor-league savant, to discuss the news that the team was extending minor-league outfielder Luis Lara and putting him on the 40-man roster. What are the Brewers getting with Lara? Where does he fit on the current roster, and more importantly, WHEN does he fit? Why hasn't Lara been a bigger name on his way up the minor-league ladder? Spencer provides keen insight on that and more minor-league topics, like who might be next to sign an extension and a couple intriguing recent names. They also talk about the wild 15-14 win Milwaukee staged in Las Vegas over the Athletics on June 8."

The Timber Rattlers have the early game today, welcoming back CF Josiah Ragsdale (.874 OPS, but last played on June 3) as they seek a 2-0 home series lead over Great Lakes. RHP Josh Knoth makes his 4th High-A start, having built up to 60 pitches in his last outing (3 2/3 IP, 2 R, 2 Ks).

Hub City beat Asheville 21-0.

Josh Knoth removed after 69 pitches through 2 2/3 innings, appeared visibly frustrated that he wasn't able to get through the inning after walking 2 of the final 3 batters he faced.

That’s homer #19 for Andrew Fischer, a first pitch, 3-run shot in the bottom of the 6th inning to break a scoreless tie.

Sweet!!

Ragsdale and Dinges had singled just before him with no outs, creating a great scoring chance.

The AA Shuckers also play a doubleheader today, with RHP Tanner Gillis (6 IP, 2 R, 7 Ks in last outing) starting Game One as they seek a 2-0 series lead at Birmingham. C Darrien Miller is 5 for his last 34, but still leads the team in OPS (.965 in 155 PAs).

Low-A Wilson dropped the series opener at Hill City yesterday, so look to square things up tonight. RHP Jarrette Bonet is coming off of 2 rough outings (7 IP, 13 R (12 ER), 5 Ks). Can RF Jose Anderson homer for a 5th consecutive game?

Nashville sit atop the 20-team International League and seek to claim a 2-0 home series lead over Durham. RHP Brett Wichrowski makes his 2nd AAA start (5.2 IP, 3 R, 3 Ks last week). SS Cooper Pratt has 30 hits in his last 25 games.

Fun fact from the Wilson pregame show:

Wilson has the worst batting average in the league, but the second highest OBP.

Ebel and Handelfrey are 1-2 for league leaders in walks.

The good news: Biloxi lead 9-1 in the 3rd inning. Singles galore, as Dasan Brown has the team's only extra-base hit (a double).

The troubling news: C Darrien Miller exited in this 3rd inning.

Really would like to see Made improve his batted ball profile. For him to be an absolute superstar he's hitting a good amount too many ground balls.

Yeah he has yet to hit for an XBH in June.  I know our expectations are high for the kid but it would be nice to see him hit for some power in the air more consistently.

Where are you guys who watch more on Jose Anderson? The power display is amazing but hitting under .200 with a lot of k's is worrying. He shows high end tool potential and at 19 is still young. What is the biggest problem with his swing/approach?

I haven't seen him as much as I'd like to, but I know his problems in the past centered on the normal stuff for a teenager----breaking pitches & chasing. The low BA has him a bit off the radar for some, but my guess is he'll repeat low-A in '27 & see a big improvement in the OBP & BA and folks will really start to notice.

Fischer won't get a full season in Appleton but if he does he might break the TRats team home run record by 10.

Yeah, there's really no one blocking him in AA. Garcia can move around & Boeve has played quite a bit in LF. You sometimes see a 'domino' effect where people at a position all get promoted at the same time so it's uniform, but that's not really necessary with Fischer.

Here’s the lineup from the second game of Biloxi’s doubleheader, in which they were trying (but didn’t succeed) to earn a sweep at Birmingham (playing as the home team in this make-up contest).

21-year old LHP Anthony Flores (6.41 ERA in 19.2 IP) made his first start since June 2025 and 2B Dylan O’Rae (.830 OPS with 31 SBs in 232 PAs) was in the starting lineup for the first time since Friday.

5th consecutive game with a homer for Anderson, which reminds me of the run Jace Avina was on some years back:

Absolutely. We had some confirmation from the Brewers Minor League hitting coordinator that Made is really working on staying on the back leg and elevating the ball more, and it's really the only hole in his profile. His zone contact rate is above 90% apparently, he's chasing a little more than one would like in Double A but also, he's 19 and that's a big jump in stuff from High A.

The Brewers org seems to think it's a very fixable issue to tap into more game power and will come, it's just being worked through at the moment

Unless a lot has changed since last year, yes the breaking pitches and chasing out of the zone are what he has to work on. I have watched few games this year unfortunately, but his underlying numbers seem to indicate the same chase/miss issues.  He tore the cover off at ACL, but was immediately was challenged by low A.  This year I was hoping to see him start to hit it better but not sadly
