Again, you could remove Drohan from the bullpen grid. Guessing Mr. Anderson will be called upon at some point of this game. Short turnaround to tomorrow's game, so that always puts pressure to eat some innings tonight, Mr. Sproat.

Williams is tough opposition, and could get to 10 wins tonight (in a non-vulture-y method).

So no Vaughn tonight since we are facing a righty?

FREE ANDREW VAUGHN!

FREE ANDREW VAUGHN!

I completely understand that Andrew Vaughn deserves more at bat's. I can see the argument against not playing Vaughn over Bauers or Yelich against RHP. The team is also not ready to give up on Frelick after 200 AB.

I can see him not playing over Bauers, and maybe Yelich, but being benched for Frelick?

INSANE!

Continue throwing Bauers into an OF spot, DH Yelich if you must, and have Vaughn at 1B.

Keep all 3 bats in the line-up on a daily basis.

That essentially means giving up on Frelick in the near term. Sal has had 1,200 reasonably good at bats and 200 bad ones. Frelick has three more years of control left. Vaughn has one additional year left.

All that to say, I agree that Vaughn needs to be in the lineup nearly every day.

I wonder what the respective splits are against RHP between AV and SF?

Frelick - .258/.339/.342 for a .307 wOBA

Vaughn - .266/.329/.344 for a .305 wOBA

So basically identical production wise against RHP this year. Expected numbers are pretty comparable as well.

I do like that they put Frelick ahead of Mitchell though. Now when Cleveland brings in a LHP for that pocket of LHH they can pinch hit Vaughn for Frelick instead of Mitchell which is what they were going earlier this season.

I was thinking about Kuhnel last night. The crooked hat, the garbage man physique, the hint of confusion in his eyes.. He has a little bit of a John Rocker aura to him.

I think if he purposely sailed a 98 mph seed to the backstop every other appearance and then looked at his hand like he wasn't quite sure what happened... I think it would make him fractionally more effective. Just give the hitters a fragrance of doubt that he entirely knows what he is doing :)

We know Sal won’t be demoted to work on things etc but he’s the next toy Murph needs taken away 😂

really would love to see what Lara has to offer but unless he’s going to play 75% of the time it makes sense not to have him up yet.

It's not really giving up on Frelick, it's playing a hitter who can help us win games in his place.

No one should be above being benched for a spell for someone getting the job done.

Never did I say give up on the guy, and maybe a little time in AAA would do him well, but I doubt Brewer brass has the balls to do what should be done.

You don’t have to give up on him. You also don’t need to let him hurt you in the lineup every day.

He has options. Why not let him work through his issues every day in Nashville?

He's already seeing his playing time get cut. Since the start of the last road trip (10 games), Sal has started 5 games. Him splitting reps against RHP with Vaughn is completely reasonable considering they are hitting RHP at basically the same level.

At this point in Sal’s career, parts four seasons in Milwaukee, I don’t think the Brewers just send Frelick to Nashville after two bad months. I think Milwaukee’s patience is part of the appeal of playing here.

Okay. So why is this a better solution to have a platoon outfielder that isn’t particularly solid at any one thing that makes him a good bench player, rather than just giving Vaughn his extra starts against RHP and letting him play 10 games out of 10 in Nashville instead of 5 so he can work through the reasons that he sucks this year?

Why does Vaughn need to play everyday? He's clearly still feeling the side effects of his injury against RHP because his bat speed is still down 3mph against RHP.

If we were talking about Jackson Chourio or Brice Turang, I’d agree with this 100%.

People talk about Sal like he was this hugely important cog to us before this season. Sal had a really nice 2025. Other than that, it’s been mostly meh. He has one season over a 93 wRC+. That's the same as Joey Ortiz.

He’s average defensively. Nothing you covet for late defensive replacements.

He hasn’t had a career that makes him immune to an option.
