“Brewers shortstop Ricki Moneys checks in fifth on the strength of a 109 mph 90th percentile exit velocity, a 111 mph max exit velocity, and better-than-average contact rates and swing decisions. This type of power was seen in 2025 from players such as Mariners outfielder Yorger Bautista and Tigers infielder Cris Rodriguez, but those players showed other flaws, such as chase rates above 30% or in-zone contact rates below 80%—areas in which Moneys has not shown weakness thus far. The 6-foot infielder is already a RoboScout favorite.“

Some EV data on Moneys from BA today.

I dont think this class will be as good as the Made, Pena, Anderson, Ortuno class but it could be close. I think the depth might better.

I remember how amazed I was on a daily basis at the offensive numbers our guys put up in the DSL that summer of '24 (and not just Made and Pena who were clearly the headliners....and for good reason!). But as you said - this year's group is doing very similar things down there.

Looking at today's lineups alone: seven guys in the DSL Gold lineup with .800+ OPS's and four guys in the DSL Blue lineup with OPS's over 1.000 today....and that's without Payano playing today. I know the sample size is still relatively small here, but we're also closing in here soon on a month of their season now.

As good as they have been, there does need to be a caveat: the pitching in the DSL is seen as really bad this year. League-wide, walks are up a ton with the average OBP above .400. The average OPS is up about 60 points over last year and 80 points over the Pena/Made year. Moneys had an .880 OPS and a sub 100 wRC+ on Fangraphs.

Yeah I would take stats with a grain of salt either way. Remember Chourio started out 0-18 (or something like that) in the DSL. Focus on the tools, approach, and quantifiable physical metrics (EV, Launch Angles). That is a really nice report to read about Moneys!
