There were also opportunities to take advantage and the Brewers didn't. Chourio striking out when Pratt and Ortiz had reached was a killer.

Brewers are 20-12 since June 16th but they really need the big guys at the top of the order to start picking up the slack. 

1-4 in the order during that stretch have an 86 wRC+ which is 28th in MLB

5-9 in the order during that stretch have a 120 wRC+ which is 3rd in MLB

Turang is the only guy among the top of the order guys with a wRC+ over 100 in that time at 109. Contreras is at 90. Chourio is at 83. Yelich is at 73. These are the players that are supposed to be carrying our lineup and they've been getting carried by the bottom half of our order for over a month.

Has there been any more information on Harrison?

Last I saw he was saying his MRI looked good, but I haven’t heard anything about going on rehab or returning to the rotation.

It wound up making no difference, but I'm assuming there was ranting & raving about Sanchez running us out of challenges & costing us a couple runs by not having one left for the Bichette AB in the 5th inning. If the assumption is correct, I'm in full agreement with the ranting & raving. True, he doesn't have the advantage of sitting in his living room watching the pitch in relation to a big white box like the rest of us but catchers & hitters have varying degrees of 'feel' for that stuff & Gary's feel isn't exactly upper shelf.

Other than that............I like the advancement in the quality of Pratts' ABs. Wilson mostly did a nice job giving the team a chance to come back, while Sproat----it's just a funny deal there. He seems to do absolutely nothing to suggest he's going to last 5 innings, or if he does we'll be down 4 or 5 runs. The stuff/velo he has, it's obvious why they wanted him. And despite the struggles tonite he really deserved to get through 5 w/one run given up. There are others who have done a much better job starting, but I don't know that I want to see him coming out of the pen. After whatever deadline moves are made, maybe a handful of starts in Nashville is in his future.

It's rare nowadays to see someone shut a team down thru 6 with only 2 strikeouts. Maybe he caught a break on a few hard-hit balls, but Thornton was damn good. Veteran-type location & command.

Minnaert was talking about him tonite & I just heard the tail end. Early August, after they return from the next road trip. He's supposed to have a rehab start in late July.

I knew the top of our lineup has absolutely stunk but wow that is bad and not a small sample either. It's incredible we've won as many games as we have. Chourio and company have got to be better.

I don't think so. He's scheduled to throw a live batting practice session this weekend that'll be set up to simulate something like four innings. Then normal rest, then a rehab start. That puts a return at early August. I'll admit I had hopes he was going right back into the rotation, but we should all know by now they're always going to take this stuff cautiously.

I got the impression he was hitting the “rookie wall”, and had some fatigue and we were looking to limit innings.

i know he’s not a rookie, but this has been his first sustained success and his previous innings high was 124 in 2024…

if best case, we’re going to get 150-160 innings from him (already at 83), let’s make those count.

if we have effective Miz and Harrison in the playoffs, we are going places (assuming Henderson would be #3)

if we’re starting Gasser or Sproat in the playoffs, we’re probably not going to advance.
