Will be at the Shuckers game again tonight.  Sitting in the same seats, will see if I spot any of the same scouts as Tuesday.

So is Leanders Matos a robot programmed to rake? 👀

He is absolutely melting faces right now. Defense is the only real question mark, but he just turned 17. That will come, especially in this system.

Moneys is still my hype guy from this class just because there’s more projection there, but Matos is making it a very hard choice. Again, we have to remember this is the DSL, so these players are super high-risk and the statline doesn't usually tell the whole story. But you know who else started off their careers this well? Made and Peña.

If you missed it, Alex Jensen dropped an early Junior Caminero comp on Matos. Now, that isn't saying he'll definitely become that player...not by a long shot, but hearing that from an evaluator I really respect is super exciting.

Hopefully the Tigers one kicked rocks to Nashville to go watch someone other than Adamczewski lol.

Just need to clarify he also said ceiling is 20 HR lower than Caminero. He said Caminero is a 50 HR ceiling guy and Matos is a 30 HR ceiling guy. Basically just said he think their swings/frames are similar. Matos is nowhere near as toolsed up as Caminero was coming out of the DSL.

He's been on my radar for about a month now. At least offensively, comparing what stats and data is available, there's an argument to be made that he's having a better season than Made had in 2024. Ignoring the obvious stats; he's had better contact rate and FB% (considering his BABIP is near his BA those FBs are probably hit with pretty good launch angles and velocity). He's pretty passive swinging and doesn't walk as much, but considering his BA, the kid seems to know his strike zone well and is forcing pitchers to throw in his zone.

But yeah, I have no metrics on defense and the Brewers don't stream DSL games so its limited info on that front.

Lucky you because you're gonna get to watch an absolutely loaded lineup with Dinges joining the team.

The ACL season is officially over with a 9-4 loss today. Their season unfortunately ended with a whimper. They were 23-20 heading into June 30th and then proceeded to end the year going 3-14. Probably not a coincidence that Frias was promoted to Wilson on 6/23 and Martinez on 7/3.
