i didn't get why they traded for the Houston guy to fill in for a bit rather than call him up.  Was a weird dfa, but probably some discussion with his agent on letting him go where he has more of a chance

At the time they needed a SS-3B replacement & I don't think they trusted him much on the defensive end. From what I understand that's been a rap on him for quite awhile. Shewmake was definitely better w/the glove, and they'll always value that, as they should.

Now, if he was still here you COULD consider him if they gave Yelich a phantom IL stint. But that would've necessitated him still being in Nashville and I think you're right; at a certain point he & his mouthpiece wanted to move on.

where do you guys see Yelich hitting 7th?  On MLB, I see Bill at Cleanup and Yelich at 5th

Yelich was 7th. Bauers got scratched with abdominal soreness so Yelich moved up. Yelich clearly paid someone to beat up Bauers so he could move back up the order.

Just play well rounded baseball. Best record last season and so far this season. The Brewers philosophy seems to work just fine. The home runs do excite the fan base. The Nationals are fun to watch as the highest runs scored team in baseball. They are good at hitting the ball.

When Yelich comes to bat with a runner on first AND second base open ... I wonder if that first pitch should be an auto hit and run. Half+ of his at bats end in a ground ball anyway - might as well get the middle infielders off their toes and see if you can't create a hole for yourself.

Simplify the at bat, you are swinging at this first pitch one no matter what, put it in play. Hit a ground ball at the shortstop and we have ourselves a rally.

I say that with 50% seriousness and 50% blue font.

I agree with most of this but I also think he needs to understand and accept - the guy he’s watching hit all those homeruns in 2018 is gone. He doesn’t exist anymore.

I'm guessing Murphy knows that. But the guy who was more than good enough less than twelve months ago, how much of THAT guy might be buried somewhere among all the chasing, swinging through FBs & hitting rollover grounders to the right side? Anyone who says "not much if anything", it's hard to argue with the evidence.

I speculated awhile back there will be a time that a decision is forced if his struggles continue. Looks like we're just about here, regarding the drop in the lineup anyway. IMO whatever is still there for him won't come out if the chasing doesn't cease. And it's not like he'll get better pitches to hit hitting 7th. I have no issue with dropping him but if he picks up his offense I don't think where he's hitting will be germane to it, unless he's feeling pressure hitting higher.

We already saw how quickly Rengifro turned his bat around elsewhere. starting to really doubt our hitting instruction.

But Vaughn came here & hit much better than he did in Chicago. With Rengifo I think it's simply a change of scenery thing, which you see all the time. Looking at his career numbers, he was never nearly as bad as he showed here. Neither was Seigler.

Angst and complaining can commence!

He’s batting behind Contreras now anyways so no one will be on base.

No Ortiz, UGH!  I guess we need Bunty to get hurt again to free up Joey from pancake hell...

I guess Joey has to go 5 for 5 every night to get a fair shot.  Screw you Murphy.

A couple people on here said something similar. Maybe Murph should set up an account & username.

Maybe he already has, and he is just trying to piss us off on the nightly...

I’m so glad Brandon Sproat is NOT pitching tonight!

I’m also glad that Kuhnel is unlikely to return to the 26-man roster after the trade deadline acquisitions.

Sproat was humble & distraught following last night’s game. I feel for him, but I hope he is moved to AAA for the remainder of the 2026 season. Maybe he turns it around like Burnes after a disastrous 2019 season. I’m not hopeful, but I’d love to be wrong / surprised by a 2027 & beyond breakout.

You must mean the 2028 season.

I've done my best to keep it that way. I get offers from gambling peddlers daily.

And I, for one, welcome our new gambling peddler overlords.

Sproat never should've made the opening day roster to begin with. The Brewers traded for him as a prospect and should've been treated as such.

You think you can hurt me? I watch Wisconsin sports. You can't hurt me.

For a while it was nice to see Murphy swallow his pride as well as some crow.
