Seems like we combined the DSL rosters for this playoff push, but left Frontado off?

Yeah, we moved over Matos, Lafond, Aguayo, Saldana and Lugo.

Might have asked too much of Lugo though, I guess, as he conceded 5 runs in his 2nd inning of work in the first playoff game.

Three teams tied with 2-1 records in pool play. I’m not sure which qualifies for the DSL semi-finals. If they only consider head-to-head amongst the 3 teams (Mariners, Giants Black, Brewers Gold), then Gold would get the spot based on run differential.

But if the tiebreaker is based on regular season record or run differential amongst the 4 teams, then our young men are out.

I am pretty sure Run Diff. does not matter into this equation whatsoever. It will be winning percentage in season head-to-head first and foremost. If any ties co-exist there, they will revert to best record over the last 20 Games. If a tie persists there? They go to 21, 22, etc. until someone has a better win percentage. In any of the information I could recover yesterday, everything pointed to last summer and the announcement of the new DSL post-season Group Play format. In that description, everything I encountered referred back to "In the event of a Group Play Tiebreaker, we will revert to standard MiLB post-season tiebreaker rules." I see that as this in 2025/2026:

Quote

In the event of any ties, the following tiebreakers will apply in the order below:

1. Head-to-head record between the clubs in the respective half (if three or more Clubs, best winning percentage in games among the Clubs).

2. If the Clubs remain tied, best overall winning percentage over the last 20 games.

3. If the Clubs remain tied, best overall winning percentage over an additional game (i.e., the last 21 games, the last 22 games, etc.) until one emerges with a better winning percentage in that span of games.

AAA Nashville play 2 games at Norfolk today, with RHP Brandon Sproat starting the opening contest. 3B Luke Adams returns to action after a recent injured list stint, with the Sounds trailing 2-1 in this week’s series.

You know, given the above details, I am pretty sure none of the Mariners or Giants Black or DSL Brewers Gold actually played each other in the regular season? Would they go to the final 20 Games? LOL. Now, to be honest, I'm confused and don't know what to make of any of this.😅 As I alluded to yesterday, I certainly am no expert here and there just isn't really any clearly listed DSL post-season tiebreaker info in any particular place.

I do know the DSL Brewers Gold were red hot to close their season at a 16-4 mark over the final 20. There is that. The Giants Black were 13-7. The Mariners were also 13-7. IF the Final 20 is the criteria? We would advance. But, at this point, I just don't know!😅

I posed this question a month ago but now seems reasonable. Which DSL players stand a chance to skip rookie ball and go straight to Wilson next year ala Chourio, Lara, Made,Yophery (I think), and Pena? Moneys, Matos, and Frontado would be the leading candidates maybe Hoff or Sarmiento among others on the mound.

SO, here's what we do know:

The DSL Reds went 3-0 in Group Play. They are the only surefire advance of four total semi-finalists. There were also three games cancelled today in Group Play. The confusion continues. 😅

Seen tweets saying that DSL Royals Fortuna and DSL Padres Gold have qualified as well.

That likely explains, then, why the remaining three Group Play games were cancelled today. I thought maybe weather - thinking they'd still afford the players the opportunity to get one last game in. Now, we know it was likely because the remaining teams were eliminated.

They gave the last spot to Giants Black. Semifinal schedule is now showing on MILB.com. That’s too bad. Two base running outs at 2nd base late in that 8-7 Thursday loss cost ‘em, the last with Lafond batting to end the game.

Oh well. That’s still a great season after starting it 0-4 and 3-10.

Man alive. What an absolutely confusing and inaccurate quagmire of rules and making that clear! LOL. SO, they do take run differential as the primary criteria? OR total runs scored? OR...Because they certainly didn't use the stated criteria from 2025. I give up.

Were those the stated pool play criteria? I found those as seeding tiebreakers, but I couldn’t find the pool play ones anywhere online.

So the DSL Gold won, nice.  Sarmiento pitched well, nice.  But they don’t advance. Bummer

And Sproat is on the mound today - yikes.

19-year old RHP Carlos Carra has had a productive 5 weeks (26 IP, 9 R (8 ER), 15 Ks, but with 18 BB) and leads Low-A Wilson as they shoot for a 3-2 series lead at Salem. 1B Carsten Sabathia has 5 multi-hit games in 8 games played.

AA Biloxi trail 3-1 in their series at Rocket City and hand the ball to RHP Jaron DeBerry (4.57 ERA, 1.36 WHIP, 9.9 K/9 in 108.1 IP) to turn the tide. DH Luis Pena is 5-for-16 with a homer and 2 stolen bases since his promotion.

High-A Wisconsin trail this week’s home series against Lake County 3 games to 1, but have 20-year old RHP Jayden Dubanewicz (5 scoreless innings last week) toeing the slab first tonight. 2B Daniel Dickinson has a 1.078 OPS over his last 238 plate appearances.

Nothing is publicly available with clear articulation of these rules. Last summer BA published an overview of the new Pool Play format and in the article claimed all Group Play Tiebreakers will revert to standard MiLB Playoff tiebreaker rules. That is clearly not the case, however. I think they may just actually go with basic top seeded team of a given group advances in a tiebreaker or Run differential. BUT, as you point out, absolutely nothing is made clear and unambiguous. At the end of the day, that opening one run loss to the Giants Black was the difference. Muy triste!

Wilson is in a delay, most likely not resuming. A ton of rain on the East Coast. Myrtle/Fayetteville was PPD so if it doesn't resume and Wilson wins, that helps

His early ABs with Biloxi haven't yielded much fruit, but I checked in on the game just in time to see Braylon Payne make a terrific charge & throw to nail a runner trying to go 1st-to-3rd on a single. The guy is a really fluid athlete.
