Well, this is new for me to turn off Packers games.  Just saw they won.   SAY WHAT?  Bears lost more than just a game today.  And they lost to the Vikings who only managed 9 pts.  The Vikings had no business beating the Packers.  Good grief.

The whole division seems pretty meh. It might be competitive all year but nobody special is coming out of it.

Reading there was a flag thrown on about 1/3 of the plays in the game yesterday.  That's absurd. 

Edit- there were 142 total plays run, including special teams, and 27 accepted penalties, so that's about 20% of the total plays had a penalty accepted.

I've defended MLF for a long time, but that win was more embarrassing than the Viking loss (which one could argue was more individual performance failures).  In this game, the team looked totally unprepared... flags everywhere (granted so did the Jets), poor play calling, blah. 

The first inside run with Brooks in the 4th quarter was fine... sure surprise people every once in a while.  But don't do it twice in row... especially with a non-running RB like Brooks.  Way to take the ball out of the hands of your playmakers and put it in the hands of a blocker...  Speaking of blocking... how can our RB that specializes in pass protection continue to miss blitzers?  Brooks has had a very poor start to the season. 

Not sure what to think about Love either.  He is starting to remind me of Dante Culpepper - the version that can't run.  Big arm that makes plays down field, but doesn't really enhance those around him.  Has there been any adjustments we see him make out there to take advantage of the defense? He feels more like one of the guys out there just executing instead of a team leader that can adjust on the fly.

I'm sorry but I cannot do any kind of eval on Love behind this offensive line. He's not really a mobile QB, and no QB can enhance the mess they are up front. They have one good OL and he is hurt. That is the worst OL in the league. I know all the hot takey shows are going to pin this mess of a year on Love and say stuff like "he's not the guy", but he is the least of the concerns on this team other than the fact they're paying a QB win-now money and botched nearly all of the rest of the roster.

Love isn't Rodgers, he's not Favre. He's a solid, top 1/3 QB though. He's been pretty good. What's more likely, he forgot how to play at 27, or this bungled roster is catching up to them?

I don't doubt that he is a solid starting QB. I think I had him top 10 before...maybe top 15 now.

History shows that most teams (80+%) winning the Super Bowl have a top 5 QB.  Yes, Seattle won it last year with Darnold (maybe despite Darnold?).  But more often than not, it has been Maholm, Rodgers, Brady, etc... 

That is the main reason LA dumped a good QB (Jared Goff) for an excellent QB (Stafford).

Love was being considered for MVP votes (he was not going to win, but he was getting traction to finish 2nd or 3rd) last year going into Denver. When the season cratered that all kind of fell apart and they have not climbed out of it, at 1-6 since then.

There's the obvious guys up ahead, but I don't think there's really a huge argument to be made for the guys like Goff, Dak, Herbert, ahead of Love.

I think they are pretty bad this year and he will take his criticism as any QB does in that circumstance. I just don't see him as the issue. I struggle to name 10 QBs better than Love, 14, no way.

I only see 3 teams in the NFC that have rosters that look significantly better than the Packers: Rams, Seahawks, Eagles.  I'm guessing I'd see about the same thing in the AFC.  As bad as parts of the team look, it wouldn't surprise me if the Packers were the 8th best team in the NFL...or if the Packers were the 24th best team in the NFL.

I think Love tends to be in that group with Goff, Herbert, Stroud, Lawrence... the good, but not great ones.  If you look at statistics, Love grades out better (except yards).  But I think he is put in a position to succeed quite often by the play designs (one of MLF's redeeming qualities).  I don't see him doing well when something breaks down or making on the fly adjustments.  If he needs to make a game winning drive at the end of the game... there seems to be very little hope of success unless someone else makes a huge play.  

He follows a script very, very well.  I just don't see him elevate the team around him. So in that way, it makes him hard to compare on paper. I'm just not sure he is a winning QB.
