Peralta: 27.1 IP, 5.6 ERA

May: 19.2 IP, 6.4 ERA

Sept:

Peralta: 17.0 IP, 1.6 ERA

May: 12.0 IP, 3.75 ERA

 

Had May gone 5-6 innings and not give up that 3 run HR they would have had similar ERA’s in Sept 

My point is if the Brewers acquired Peralta and he had a 5-6 ERA after one month people would have been calling it a bad trade here

Yes Freddy has been miles better than May post deadline.

May - 5.40 ERA, 6.22 xERA, and 4.71 FIP

Freddy - 3.60 ERA, 3.89 xERA (will be lower after today), and 4.00 FIP

And Freddy has thrown 18.1 more innings than May as well so not only has he crushed him rate wise he’s crushed him volume wise as well.

If only may wouldn’t give up runs he would be doing a good job.    This is why i love in game threads.

This is why I don’t buy the “it was still a good trade because we needed someone to eat up those innings” argument. 

May has “eaten up” less than 32 innings for us. 

We have relievers in our pen who aren’t that far behind that count since the end of July.

Unlike May, Peralta has put up 14 WAR and was a Cy Young finalist last season.

over 6 years, May has something like 3 career WAR, and most of those was 2023 or earlier.

let’s face it. May is an overpaid, old version of Sproat.  A guy hugely hyped in a bit organization (LA) who has never put it together
