I mean the entire offense has struggled today and did so in the 8th. They have 3 hits and 11 strikeouts. 

Yes the offense struggled today however Lara is a .650 ops. with absolutely zero power. In a big situation in the playoffs I would rather have Sal batting. Lara is obviously young and is the future but his bat is much worse than I expected.

Sal: .236/.624

Lara is probably a little better fielder than Sal.

While I understand your point, Lara is a .659 OPS. In a big spot I would rather have Sal hitting. He’s done it before in the playoffs. It’s just my preference.

Bobby Gass has been fantastic after settling back into the rotation as the season has rolled on.

I know the subsequent trade was a robbery in its own right to get wild bill here....but Hader for Ruiz and Gasser years ago has borne some serious fruit for the Brewers already - and it will look even better if Gasser becomes a rotation mainstay for a few more seasons

Your expectations must have been much higher than mine. I expected both him and Pratt to be defense first guys whose bats took a couple years to come around. Like Turang. 
 

A .659 OPS was well within my expectations offensively,

I love Sal … but I prefer the switch hitter Lara

I’d say the gap defensively is pretty big if we are specifically talking about the present. Sal has looked really off defensively this year and don’t think you can trust his arm at this point.

Feel like the starting spot is still up for grabs with 7 games to go and neither of them are doing a good job seizing the starting spot.

That is fair. My minimum OPS for an everyday player is .675. With that said, right fielder OPSs is worse than I thought. Something like only 15 have an OPS over.675. Overall hitting is down all through baseball.

And his one run allowed was off a cheap triple on what should have been a can of corn in right field but the RF lost the ball in the Sun.

That’s a tough loss for him. Feel like he certainly pitched better between him and Gasser but baseball is a game where the better pitcher doesn’t always wins

Baseball can be such a crazy port.

One game both teams are stringing quality ABs one after another in a 3+ hour battle and the next game is just over 2 hours with quality ABs you could count on one hand.

Outside of this season in the minors, his bat has never been anything special.

Lara does not profile as a guy you sign to a long term deal. I think Frelick has a better profile or pedigree and look what happened to him. Weird sign

Tampa fixed Freddy……..and no I’m not mad we didn’t get him back…….Stearns couldn’t have done that and kept his job…….or maybe his life in NY……I’m just happy for Freddy…..hopefully he gets a decent contract

I’m not even sure what this means. Freddy has been miles better than May and cost a lot less. Why would their fans be mad? Why would Brewers fans think the guy with a 5.40 ERA, 6.22 xERA, and 4.71 FIP has been anything other than terrible?
