Yeli, Sal, and Bunty in. Vaughn, Lara, and Joey O out. Loading up lefties against Yamamoto.

Yamamoto actually does worse against righties.

Those numbers are brutal from both sides.

Likely more of a “work the count and get some slap hits” type strategy.

This, along with Chourio already being our all-time playoff home run leader, tells everyone all they need to know about what we have endured as a fan base to get to this current era.

Makes me think of how much choking these starters have done since 2018 or how injured they were.

Burnes had 2 starts all those years, Woodruff had 4, and Peralta had 6. None of them are apart of that that franchise record…collectively they have 3 wins. Woodruff and Burnes never won a game after 2018. Kind of atrocious when you think about it. In their defense, I didn’t check the game logs to see how often the offense may have let them down.

Miz actually has two wins from last year, but has failed to grab a W in either start.

I didn't verify the numbers but it appears only 15 out of 52 starts have hit 5.0 IP this postseason. So something like 70% of postseason decisions go to the bullpen now.

The guys now are getting many more chances to get a win with the expanded field. Doesn't help that statistic when they were using 7 pitchers to get through a game either. When they have someone like Hall or Ashby who can come in for short innings multiple days, they will get more cracks at a W. I think it's a bit misleading of a stat. It doesn't totally shock me that a recent starter doesn't have two recorded wins. They just don't get many chances. When they have a top line guy, he usually gets flipped before a big contract as well.

I don't think anything you said around this is untrue.. But I'm not sure misleading is the right word. Maybe shocking or sad. The Brewers have been around for over half of a century and one of the guys tied for the most wins in our playoff history just made his third playoff appearance for us and they have all happened within the last 9 days. That's a little wild.

Woodruff has 4 career playoff starts and a 1-3 record in 8 total appearances. ERA 3.18. I don't have the logs of those starts but he has pitched well. Burnes has similarly good numbers. It's just a different format of play that isn't conducive to racking up recorded wins for a single player, and there has been a pretty bad string of luck in there too.

Misleading in that it implies their pitchers haven't pitched well, but the reality is far more nuanced than that.  It's just kind of a hard thing to do not only because it's difficult, but you just don't get that many cracks at it. The elite guys end up traded, your hook is much shorter in October, and for the starters they pretty much need a series victory to even get a second start.

Between 1983 and 2017 the Brewers made the playoffs twice. Hard to get multiple playoff wins that way.

This statistic truthfully is mostly limited by the years 2018-now. It's not as jarring when you look at it that way.

I would ask how many teams have 3 different players with 2 postseason wins since 2018? Maybe a handful?

Yes, I agree with you on all of that. I think I'm referencing one specific piece of the stat and you are speaking to it generally.

It’s pretty common for a team to ride a hot starter to a deep postseason run. Clearly happening with Cleveland right now…last year was Yamamoto obviously.

Maybe Ashby is becoming that guy for us this year…kind of unconventional but he’s getting crucial outs every game.

The narrative writes itself if they lose — too old, too injured, overpaid.

Been thinking along similar lines for a couple of days.

Last year the Brewers might've been a year too young.

This year the Dodgers might be a year too old.

However, there is an old saying: Too old, too slow, too good.

The lads won't be getting ahead of themselves. One play at a time.

Have a great day if you're going, I really hope that one day I can join you 😃

Actually way more than I would have guessed. I figured 3 or 4 teams would have a dozen different guys but that most teams only made the playoffs once or twice and not with the same guys enough to have them stack wins.

Starting in 2018,  I count 15 Brewers playoff wins, including 4 this year. That isn’t a lot to go around compared to teams that have made multiple trips to the World Series.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.
