A big difference from years past where everyone was trying to play hero. Lots of K’s and lots of quick ABs. You just see a lot more good ABs when guys accept they aren’t Barry Bonds.

It's going to be interesting to watch other teams try to copy our approach in the next few years. Some of it you can't teach but I bet we'll see more teams try to emulate our swing profile.

Looking back at some of the highlights of the 3rd inning, it’s wild how different that could have gone.

Yamamoto wanted to challenge the 3-2 pitch to Turang and pulled back. Seems postseason umps have been pretty lenient letting guys rethink their first reaction. Contreras got let off the hook once too. Unfortunately for Yamamoto he would have won the challenge. I’m shocked they didn’t, but I think they  just didn’t mind Turang on 1st to open up the double play.

Then in the Bauers long AB, the LF flat out should have caught that foul ball for the third out. I couldn’t believe how much the announcers downplayed that effort. I would have been livid had Chourio looked at a ball bounce in front of him like that.

Teoscar is just not a good LF. It would've taken a dive for him probably, which is dicey right there, but definitely a good LF makes that catch.

Even watching it back, he definitely wasn’t running very hard and decided to just watch his SS (?) try to make the play of the decade on that ball.

I know the announcers were pointing out a potential collision, but jeez man. Sounds like a lame excuse for not hustling there.

Essentially the same play happened in the Rays/Guardians game. Same result but more effort and more pain:

I think this one is my favorite low effort attempt...Randy wasn't going to risk his $150+ million FA contract by tripping on the mound in the Trop's bullpen. The announcers try to play it off as him protecting his hamstring...

Good for you that you quit.  I quit cold turkey 30 years ago.   Don't start again even if the unthinkable happens.  😀

Oh, I never enjoyed even one puff and knew it would be a short period of time.  It was just self-flagellation over the gut-wrenching Game 7 & Series loss.  I was so miserable I didn't know what to do with myself.

What's funny is, whenever I have had an MD appt, the nurse or doctor will invariably ask the routine question, "have you ever been a smoker."  And my answer each time is "yes, for one week following the 1982 World Series."

Congrats to you on 30 years.

That's a fantastic answer to that question. I'm glad you quit. I'm also glad you have the story.

May this year's team exorcise the demons.

Stop it - you are messing with the ju ju!   Don't want to see Shohei hit a 480 ft home run his first plate appearance tomorrow night.  :-)

Why are you guys messing with Ohtani?  Let sleeping dogs lie.

Trying to jinx the situation?

Geez, wish I hadn't read this...

If he goes off the rest of this series, it is the fault of the posters in this thread messing with the jinx.

He’s injured and completely lost at the plate. This is great news for the Brewers. Nobody on the Dodgers is going to say no to their $700 million golden boy.

I predicted it in the 8th given how short it was and knowing that you had 2 lefties (unless they were PH for) in the 9th (for that matter, I also expected Abner back out for Betts, then Ashby). I was not surprised when Ashby came back out. I agree if it had been closer then the decision would have been do you want Ashby to face Hernandez or Megill facing Muncy. Up by 3, I'm definitely ok with them PHing Muncy and leaving Ashby in.

I thought Uribe should come back for Betts and Ashby for... the leadoff hitter(Muncy)... but I thought THEN you go Megill.

But whatever, Ashby was shoving and Megill is fine, so they rode the hot hand. I don't care. I was actually a bit more confident in our SPing over 7 games in this series than vs SD because of our lefties.

Gm3, pressure is on the LAD and Snell. Hoping we can rack up that pitch out and make Snell work early!

HE wasn't much better through Gm2 of the post-season last year.

He was coming off a 1-25 stretch last year through Gm2 of the NLCS.

Writing off Othani at this point would be foolish.

I'm not writing him off. I'm saying I'm not afraid of having him in the lineup. Bring it on.

Believe me, superstition is meaningless.  If you need statistical evidence, superstition is one of the things I actively bet against.

Sigh...  So far so good.  Ohtani managed a HBP and single last night.  Just want this OVER as soon as possible.  Tonight would be good.
