World Series Game 4: Brewers (TBD) vs Rays (Jax): 10/27/26, 7:00pm

Hopefully we’ll go ahead and win tonight and all this becomes a distant memory.

I think, given that he didn’t even seem to really be an option last night after one single inning the day before, it’s pretty fair to question whether Woodruff was more of a logical or sentimental addition to the roster.

Its tough because I’m glad he got his chance. But if you ask me whether you’d rather have him on the roster over Patrick or even Grant Anderson I’d say probably not.

You may not be 3 outs from winning the WS again. Not saying it goes down like that but it’s possible. It continues to be baffling that you go to Drohan in the scenario instead of Miz.

I’m perplexed how Woodruff had the option to pitch the most uselsss inning in the World Series or start the potential title clinching game. Polar opposite situations. At least that is how I understood the story when I read about it afterwards.

If Woodruff isn’t able to pitch back to back games, letting him get that throwaway inning was a pretty shortsighted move.

Having a guy in the pen with the inability to go on back to back nights or even possibly being a one time use was really dumb.   None of use would have felt good with Patrick coming in but we all would have felt with him over Patrick.  Murphy was going to a lefty regardless though.   Harrison has better stuff than Drohan and should have been in the game.

What was shortsighted was pitching Megill to one batter in the 8th. If he comes out for the 9th, you have Ashby for another inning.

I thought that was the proper move. He threw 5 pitches and is completely available tonight. If he sits and has to go another inning he might be available tonight, but who knows on what count or how that inning goes.

Last night is the classic case of what Murphy has said all year. It works, you look like a genius, it doesn't, you're a clown.

Watching this place pretend that Miz was some no-brainer call last night is laughable. If he comes in and they lose, this entire forum, Reddit, etc., is on absolute fire this morning. I have particularly enjoyed Miz drawing criticism for not being a true ace this postseason, but when it comes to being a closer, something he's never done, all the sudden he is a guaranteed 3 outs and everyone knows it should have been done. Give me a break.

Woodruff on the roster to only throw meaningless innings, if that ends up being the case, is the strongest criticism against Murphy/Brewers. I don't know how you justify even Drohan over Patrick given that mentality. Drohan has been trending south for a good 6 weeks.

The Brewers are still likely to get this done, but my biggest disappointment from last night was the fact that Pratts historical moment was taken away from him.   That would have been remembered forever in Brewerdom and in baseball history, and now its just a neat footnote

Agreed completely. Miz was NEVER an option last night. I doubt it even crossed Murphy's mind.

We can argue whether Drohan was the right choice, but it was down to him, the ice cold Harrison or Woodruff, who has never thrown in relief before Monday evening. I understand why he went with Drohan there.

As bummed as I was last night, my dad mentioned on the phone really wanting to catch one of these games with me, and he’s been on vacation in Arkansas, just getting back last night .

So now he’s coming over for the game tonight and given his age, I have to imagine there’s definitely a chance it’s the only Brewer World Series game we ever watch together.

So in that way, grateful for a Game 5.

Literally my only saving grace is here is they lose tonight and I attend Game 6 with my 80-year-old Dad.

That was my initial thought.  Drohan just had no shot last nite.

Murphy said he probably wouldn’t have even used Miz with a 3-run lead.

Which, idk, at that point surely you’d be confident enough in the Cy Young winner to end the season and be done with it.

I'm having way too many "Wisconsin sports teams always choke" thoughts this morning, but I keep reminding myself the Packers and Bucks both have broken through.  What's somewhat discouraging is Tampa is so close to benig up 3-1 right now, but they aren't.  They had to play a near perfect game to beat us last night, and they still could have lost it.

I'll probably read through all of this later, but, oof. That was an epic game that just lacked the right ending. From where I was sitting, it seemed like basically the whole third base side was Brewer fans. Coop's HR was like Jackson's walkoff except the game wasn't over, and then...ugh.

The good news is they hit the heck out of the ball and Tampa's BP is not going to be in a good spot tomorrow. I still like our chances.

I was on that side and it absolutely was all Brewers fans.  They did a lot of PA work to drown out the Brewers chants.  It may not have come through on TV but it was loud for the Brewers.  Brewers are in the stronger position but oof, tonight is going to be interesting.

The downside of that going south is just so significant that you trust someone else to protect a 3-run lead, highly probable they will. Using Miz in a blown save is as close as it gets to losing 2 games in an inning.

To me, the justification is easier with 1 run than 3, but I wouldn't do either. Not up 3-0.

I was gutted last night but I fancy our chances to get it done tonight.

This is the most significant criticism I got from a game management perspective.  You extend your quality pitchers as much as you can last night.  Following not using Megill as a closer the other night I almost wonder if there is something going on with Megill.  Just seems like odd usage for him this series.

My bigger complaint is bullpen roster construction for the World Series -  either Anderson or Patrick needed to be on the roster and I don't care that Drohan is a lefty he was not worthy of a spot. Especially if you are carrying Woodruff as a very limited option.  The lack of another "inning eater" in the bullpen is showing.

Didn't dawn on me last night even, but man I would've been happy to seen Grant Anderson coming out of that pen rather than Drohan.  I thought I saw Priester in the dugout last night, I wonder if guys like Anderson and Patrick are on a "taxi" squad of sorts incase someone gets hurt and are allowed to at least be around the team.  I would hope so, but I haven't seen either of them.

The loss sucks for Cooper Pratt more than anyone, he would have been immortalized in Brewers lore had we hung on to win.  I get both sides of the Miz argument, but having seen Yamamoto and Sale close out the WS in previous years successfully, I'm still convinced he would have been the best choice.

If Caminero goes to the IL, I wonder if they bring in Hopkins, dude has some Nasty stuff.

I don't think he'll go on the IL - but that gives me Kirk Gibson vibes......

Watching replays, adding to my misery which I shouldn't be, but Bauers needs to make that play on the Ortiz throw.  That's not some sort of weird hop off a lip, that was a clean bounce and a play that MLB first basemen have to make.  I love what Bauers has done for us this year, and we are probably not in this situation without him.  In the same breath, I want nothing to do with a big money long term deal for him.

Enough dwelling on the past, time to flush it and move on to tonight.
