World Series Game 4: Brewers (TBD) vs Rays (Jax): 10/27/26, 7:00pm

I just don’t understand how you handle the staff for 11 innings like it’s game 7 and then decide in the 12th to punt.

I think Murphy just played to win without burning anyone for the next day. Our bullpen is just so deep it can cover 11 innings. Unfortunately the offense took way too long to score a single run and give a lead worth using Megill for 2 innings etc.

Because the choices were Drohan, Harrison or Woodruff. Murphy literally said in his presser that Miz was 100% NOT an option. There was zero chance he was coming on in relief last night, no matter how much certain fans want to make it a thing. Yes, there is a history of veteran pitchers like Sale and Yamamoto coming in to close out WS games, but not all pitchers are built the same.

As much as there's been discussion about Woodruff's roster spot in the World Series in the thread above, there should be some serious questioning about just what Harrison is doing on the roster. If Harrison doesn't pitch with a 10-run lead in Game 3 or be used in a 12-inning Game 4, then why was he on the roster over Patrick, Anderson, or anyone else?

So do we just not believe in Harrison anymore? I dont understand whatsoever why he hasnt pitched in the playoffs.

Why waste a roster spot on him then?

Fans aren’t trying to make something a thing. Murphy 100% could have used Miz, but he didn’t. Everyone can argue about his decision to go that route, but it isn’t like it was impossible to use Miz.

In the end we will never know what would have happened. Frankly, even if we blow the entire series, I won’t care much about the decision to not pitch Miz. Maybe it lost us that one game, but there would be three other games we blew too. Surely there would be a worse decision/choke-job to find us losing this series.

I could understand the argument to use Miz if it were Game 7. But certainly not in Game 4 when you are up 3-0. If Miz would have come in and blown it last night, pitching in relief for the first time in his career and on short rest, Murphy would be getting lambasted today. Hence my opinion that Miz coming into the game last night was never an option.

Well he didn’t really say that. He said maybe if they had a 3 run lead but still possibly not.

The Brewers are still likely to get this done, but my biggest disappointment from last night was the fact that Pratts historical moment was taken away from him.   That would have been remembered forever in Brewerdom and in baseball history, and now its just a neat footnote

Not only that, but the Brewers likely had the best case for most dominant WS run ever. It would've added to their amazing streak of comeback wins. Chourio had just tied Babe Ruth for most hits in 4 games. Ashby broke the scoreless inning record. Every player who made a demoralizing mistake (Pratt, Hamilton) made up for it in a BIG way. It would've been an incredibly fitting end to the season.

Deep down, I know throwing Miz in a one run lead is a little wild.

Up 3? Idk, maybe that’s gutsy, but I think there is a good argument to do it. But even Murphy said that was likely a no-go. One could debate this, but in the end a bit silly as it is merely a hypothetical that was never a real thing.

Either a really genius decision or a really dumb one. Murphy decided to stay the course down the middle. It lost the game, but also kept us well positioned for the rest of the series.

Murph said he didn't want to burn him with a one run lead so yeah it was risk vs reward and odds are very high we still win this thing and it doesn't matter. But we were out of leverage relievers and 3 outs away, I would have liked to leave it all on the field in that situation and yeah I could have lived with Harrison/Woodruff whoever today if he blew it. But that is just my opinion, I am not claiming it was a no brainer. Miz pitched out of the pen last postseason.

Not going to lie, I really want them to win tonight because if not in a matter of days the narrative goes from ‘most dominant postseason ever’ to being on the defense trying to avoid one of the biggest chokejobs in sports history. It’s like, what, the last 17 occurrences none of the teams down 3-0 have seen a Game 6?

Sad the crazy records to be had are gone, but end of the day hoisting the trophy is all that matters.

"You can’t blow that type of situation on a one-run lead on the road,” Murphy said when asked if Misiorowski was an option in extra innings. "If we were in the 13th inning and had a three-run lead, that might be a little bit different, and I probably still wouldn't have."

That was a brutal loss.

I'm more upset failing to sweep caused me to lose the lead in my pool with my friends. And missing the chance to complete the narrative of the most dominant team in postseason history.

Other than that, I'm still confident we will close this thing out. They're still playing well and just got very unlucky last night. Get em tonight!

Woody isn’t facing that pocket, but every other guy in the pen is asked to either provide length or pitch on consecutive days. If he is only capable of pitching extremely low leverage innings and can’t be asked to enter a game deep into extra innings, then what are we doing here. I’d rather have Patrick, Anderson or Stallings on the roster.

Yeah, I don't really get the pitching roster construction. I'm fine with Woody on the roster. I'm fine with Harrison on the roster as a "break in case of multi-inning emergency" guy. But all three of Woody, Harrison, AND Drohan? Three guys you're just not going to use (except one in an "emergency" like last night)?

Give me one of them plus two more reliable relievers. I've never been a Grant Anderson guy and I know Patrick struggled late, but we're basically playing the World Series with three non-playable pitchers. Weird.

But hey, we're 3-1 in the World Series!

That sounds like a ‘maybe’ with the reading between the lines of “I didn’t put much thought into that because we didn’t have a 3 run lead so I have no idea what I would have done”

I've thought about the idea that Miz should've been out there and I certainly get it, but Senza got the first out. He got it. Now, I probably would've kept him in, but regardless, with one out and bases empty, things are a lot different for Drohan. Maybe he still gives up a bunch of hits, but boy, if Ortiz makes that play, it could've been a lot different.

Bauers hit 4 of the 5 balls 100 MPH or harder. xBAA of .570, .770, .230 and .20

That's not "brutal." That's hitting piss missiles at players.

You have a point with Bauers but what about Mitchell?

Basically Drohan or Harrison were your choices

The fact Murph didn't consider going with Harrison after Drohan clearly was struggling was rather telling.

Typically it takes starters a longer time to warm up. Considering the rapid fire succession of hits Drohan was serving up, there probably wasn't time.

The Brewers took a risk going with Drohan, and it blew up in their face. It sucks because, for the most part, Drohan was a pretty dependable back-end starter for a big portion of the season, and was one of the cogs that got them here.

Didn’t Drohan pitch on three previous occasions in the postseason and not give up a run? If that’s the case, I don’t think he was a bad option. Obviously he didn’t pitch well tonight.

Didn't Murph go with Drohan after 3 hitters?

He is not likely the SP the following day if we win. I think you are missing that point.

Well that could be a high risk option and allow things to potentially spiral out of control.

You would have changed pitchers in a tie game, bases loaded, and no outs?

The game was cooked.

Right. Maybe we are saying different things by “wasn’t an option.” I am saying that if Miz was potentially a possible option with a 3 run lead, he was an option with a 1 run lead as in, he was definitely available to pitch.

He just wasn’t an option there In Murphy’s mind and I think many are arguing that he should have been.

That game was a gut punch to the nards.

Even our gatekeeper BCF was expressing negative energy several times.

The game was a difficult watch, and from the get go it just didn't feel like the others.

We live to fight another day, and I expect game 5 to be another barn burner...
