Milwaukee Brewers Purchase Contract of Edmonton Catcher Brian Munhall
'Cats Catcher Headed to Nashville for Pacific Coast League Playoffs
[/align]
The Edmonton Cracker-Cats and Northern League announced that 'Cats catcher Brian Munhall had his player contract purchased by the Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers have already announced Munhall will immediately be assigned to their Triple-A affiliate Nashville Sounds (Pacific Coast League).

Munhall, a six-year minor league veteran, was traded mid-season by the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks to the Cracker-Cats on June 30th with first baseman Clint Johnston in exchange for catcher Adam Shorsher.

The 6-0, 200-pounder, was originally signed by the San Francisco Giants as a non-drafted free agent out of Gonzaga University (Spokane, WA). Over five seasons in the Giants organization, Munhall carried a .270 career batting average and played as high as Triple-A in 2004 and 2005.

The sale of Munhall's player contract to the Brewers marks the eighth of the season and 607th of the Northern League since 1993.

with dennis sarfate designated for assignment yesterday, and assuming another team doesn't claim him, what's the earliest he could be available to pitch for the sounds in the playoffs?

At West Virginia, Andrew Lefave's wrist injury has landed him officially on the disabled list, opening up a roster spot for Helena phenom Caleb Gindl, who has joined the Power.

Thanks lexi, the Stars are definitely going to need Mat's bat in the series with Montgomery, as they're facing one of the toughest pitching staffs in the minor leagues (just like last year).

I'm sorry guys...but I'm not impressed. That's batting champion LeFave, Hawaii winter league championship MVP Thatcher, Stever Garrison and Will Inman, who need no special "titles" for a bunch of nothing that doesn't get us to the playoffs......It sucks having a good minor league system to supply the rest of the league! I have HATED all of these trades! Just one man's opinion from Charleston, WV!

the loss of lefave is annoying...but he was vinny rotino without the versatility, so not a big loss on the prospect radar...still, i'm with you on the rest of this nonsense..

To be honest, LeFave was one of the few guys that kept me tuning in each night. There's lots of solid players, but he's one of the few that seems to actually outperform his potential. Tools are great, but performance is nice, too
