Why did they pitch to Delgado?

I agree, if you can intentionally walk a guy in the 1st, why not the 3rd. Certainly to miss Delgado and face Conine.

Why does Darron feel it necessary to try to protect these guys so much? "You can talk about the defense all you want, but..." But nothing. Weeks screwed up. Hart screwed up worse, and that is the primary reason the Marlins have 4 runs right now. Up and coming rookies or not, everyone saw what happened and Darron makes himself look like an idiot by trying to pretend it is somehow more complicated than that.

That's not the primary reason. Ohka is, and Yost is too for not ordering Delgado be walked intentionally.

Yeah,ok. Whatever you say. An error allowing Pierre to go to second. Followed by a pop up that obviously should have been caught by Hart. He's still gotta make pitches, but Ohka wasn't even given a chance in that inning. BTW, delgado hasn't exactly been hitting the cover off the ball recently.

Jeff Conine hits like a middle IF. Delgado hits like a HOFer. He has a .954 OPS and 25 HR. That's hitting the cover off the ball in my book. Why would you pitch to Delgado when you could walk him and set up the DP? Seriously, there is no reason to. They walked Cabrera in the 1st, and pitched to Delgado in the 3rd. It makes no sense.

EDIT: Delgado's last 10+ games - 12/35, 4 HR, 7 BB. What did you mean by recent?

0-4 w/4 K's.

I can agree that walking him there would have been fine. I assume there was some rationale used to make that decision. Not sure what it is.

The point is, without the pathetic defense, Ohka never would have been in that position. Even with the Weeks error, at wost, should have been runner on second with 2 out. Very different than 2nd and 3rd one out. That bad inning was caused by bad defense.

As I watch gameday, I wonder if my eyes deceive me, but it does seem that the Brewers actually manufactured a run.

Corey BB

SB

Lyle 4-3

Caballo 4-3 Run Scores. weird. At least we tied it up.

Fun game so far, can anyone disagree. Boy these kids are sure hitting the ball hard, sometimes getting rewarded with hits and sometimes not. You've gotta think a team might be interested in Ohka being their fifth starter, if we are willing to trade him. Another solid, but unspectacular outing.
