Nice matchup info Brian but the records at the top show the Brewers with an extra loss and Cubs with an extra win unless you're predicting the result of today's game.

At least the Brewers will get to see what a true #1 pitcher looks like...ooh, he might not even be the top man (Wood)...

Comeon Franklin...pull the upset, beat Prior head to head

FYI, the game's on WGN for those with access to a TV and Cable. I'm going to take a nice long lunch and hopefully catch a few innings.

"What we lack in talent and ability we make up for in heart and ability," said manager Ned Yost. "That's the best thing about this club."

Yikes. I'm not even sure what that means, but it can't be good. I guess it's alright for the manager to feel that way but I sincerely hope that Doug Melvin is laughing about it, too.

I don't know how much I adore Steve Stone's delivery per se, and it's not that he uses stats to back up what he says, but I'm struck by his seemingly very knowledgeable understanding of the Brewers and their personnel. I've always liked Stone, and he just exhudes an aura of intelligence that I enjoy.

Jose K is my new favorite Cub.

I don't often get to see Brewer games being stuck in Missouri, but I do have WGN and I just tuned in.

Franklyn is holding his own after 3.

Franklyn 5 K's 0 ER

Prior 6 K's 0 ER

Did I just hear Jim Powell say that they didn't get Kapler because Melvin couldn't clear up a spot on the major league team? This is the team carrying 13 pitchers? The team with Brooks who has options remaining?

I'm following on the net and I'm assuming Yost didn't have the infield in with no outs in the 4th. I'm glad he's learning his lesson on that. Let me know if my assumption is wrong.

big blast by Ginter (ok, so it was weak) but it got the Crew back into the game

Hopefully that will help Franklyn out with confidence...Id love to see him pull out this W against the young Cub phenom

The little boys gettin us a pair of runs, Scotty singles and Keith Muscles Ginter pounds another homer! the last two days he has doubled his career homer total!

Your assumption is correct... the infield was back.

hows that for confidence in Franklyn...

1.2.3 innings...lasted 2 minutes tops http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif

Pods had a nice grab in center against Jose K

A side note: The Cubs announcers made the comment, (not accurate, but close to quoted)..."its hard to find a young 3rd baseman...Milwaukee has one in Helms"

Im not sure if thats just jelousy because they have Hernandez, but thats quite the compliment.

I just hope Helms continues to develop as a player.

Im going to go ahead and let this be my Susan B Anthony...

Mark Prior is GREAT!!!!

16 strikeouts...he looks like he could go 5 more strong innings.

I know Milwaukee has been notorious for wiffing, but Prior made it look easy today.

He IS the best young arm in baseball and he'll be a joy to watch for many years. I wish him good health, regardless of whether the Cubs are our rivals. Hes a good kid, and a joy to watch.
