  1. I'd rather see a Miller/Rivera combo from this point forward. MUCH better at the plate (Miller and Rivera have hit as many homers in the past two games than Estrada has hit since July 7). Do you guys realize that Estrada had 2 rbi's the entire month of August? Pathetic. As far as defense/throwing goes...obviously you can't get any worse than Estrada. Teams are going to keep running on him non-stop. At least I've witnessed Miller throw a couple of guys out since the Summer Solstice. What was he talking about with Fielder in the dugout after the game? Was he asking him to grab a handful of jersey for a second when guys make their break for second? Maybe the pitcher should start cutting off his throws to second (that is if they aren't about 6 feet off target to the right. Frankly, I've had it with Estrada. I swear that he has gained about 2 pounds a week for the entire season. Unacceptable. No wonder he has the problems with his legs. He is a lazy loafer and needs to be shut down for the season.
  2. Gotta send some props out to the following... Blue Moon (owned by Coors, awesome stuff) Beck's Octoberfest (should be out now, give it a try) St. Pauli Girl Dark Tyranena Chief Black Hawk Porter (best "local" in my opinion) Huber Bock (gotta give them their props for best "bang for the buck") If I'm not drinking these, usually I stick to Sam Adams... or High Life if I'm in a local bar.
  3. I've seen all I need to from this clown, and I hope to God that he is not back next year. Poor plate discipline, no clutch hitting, loafing on the basepaths, mental errors, can't call a game, can't throw at all, and is an all around bad catcher. There are many good reasons he has been traded every year. Why do I fear that the Brewers are going to be the team that gets stuck with him. How anyone can defend him (and I'm sure some will), I have no idea.
  4. After watching the video, I have to ask. Were there ANY chicks at this concert?
  5. Alpine used to be awesome. They usually pulled all of the best summer concerts. It seemed like they had a big concert over there every week or two in the summer, and I've seen some awesome shows there. Two things led to it's downfall. 1. Walworth County police/politicians/citizens got fed up (understandably) with the carnage that happened before/during/after each show. There is just not sufficient infastructure for people to get in/out of the venue. Several years ago due to all the arrests/citizen complaints the county enacted several regs for Alpine to follow. Only so many shows a summer (5-6?) and no 'weeknight' concerts. 2. The music business has changed big time and Alpine is not aligned well with the big time concert promoters (clear channel, etc.). Alpine used to be considered THE Milwaukee stop for summer concerts. Now, most big summer shows skip Milwaukee all together, or play Summerfest or the Marcus. It seems that most of the big acts play the big outdoor venue on the South side of Chicago. It's really too bad, but I think Alpine will close as soon as they get a good deal for the land. They'll probably build a Dell's type ski resort out there with an indoor waterpark and everything. Sometimes "progress" sucks.
  6. I'd be shocked if Willis went in the top 5 of that draft. If I was picking, I wouldn't take him in the top 10.
  7. Agreed. Don't get me wrong, because I think Vick is despicable, but I'm always amazed that people's emotions seem to run higher in instances of animal abuse/torture than when fellow human beings are killed. All I will say is that if the league lets Little play (even after getting another DWI), I guess Vick should be allowed to play as well.
  8. "The Glory of Their Times" is a must read if you are into old-school (turn of the last century) baseball. I second the "Lords of the Realgm" suggestion. Some fun quick reads on bad teams are "The Curse of Rocky Colavito" about the bad Indian teams of the 1960s-1990s and "Seasons In Hell With Billy Martin, Whitey Herzog And "The Worst Baseball Team In History"-The 1973-1975 Texas Rangers ".
  9. And Gross is a very streaky player.
  10. Why would anyone want Sweeney back? He would definitely be on my "All Time Worst Brewers" team as their pinch hitter/backup OF.. I'd be thrilled if the Cubs or Cardinals picked him up.
  11. Man, Alvarez is an absolute wizard at getting these guys clearance to play. He could probably get Michael Vick to suit up if he had to.
  12. I think we just saw rock bottom with Griffey's little league home run.
  13. I would rather have Jenkins than Ibanez for sure. He is garbage. Cameron may interest me in a Reggie Sanders type way - if he would play for the same type contract (1-2 years @3-4 million a year).
  14. Don't remember him. I remember Ax and Smash but not Crush. He must have been the 'Shemp' of demolition.
  15. This maybe a stupid question but is vuckovich still alive I don't see him on the list? Vuckovich is still alive, but "doesn't do" autographs. He is not very fan friendly.
  16. I see that Vuckovich isn't even signing autographs for this...
  17. Wade Boggs pulling on cowboy boots was a cover up.
  18. Vince Coleman getting run over by the tarp. Roger Metzger severing the tips of his fingers with a table saw.
  19. Come on, I think you guys are being too tough on Bando. If he would have given Molitor what he wanted, he wouldn't have had the flexibility to bring Bill Doran, Tom Brunansky, Kevin Reimer, Dickie Thon, and Mike Boddicker into the fold. Those guys were all huge for that '93 team.. One of the problems with Bando is that he was pretty lucky picking veterans off the scrap heap for the 92 season (Seitzer, Fletcher, etc.), and probably thought that he could do it again.
  20. Hopefully this hasn't been posted anywhere else, but why do you guys think that there is absolutely no buzz around town about Glavine going for 300 tomorrow night? I haven't heard a peep about it, and went online and bought pretty good tickets today. I remember when Ryan was going for 300 it was the talk of the town.
  21. Wow, Jefferson and filler. The Wolves should have made the trade before the draft. They probably could have gotten the 5th pick then. I'm still not sold on the Celtics though. I'd be surprised if Allen plays more than 50 games.
  22. Houston needs a closer (unless they think Lidge can do the job). Maybe they could package Cordero with a spare part (Mench perhaps) and a middling prospect (someone like Nix?) for Carlos Lee? That would give them the bat that they need in LF.
  23. Saw the Fogerty/Mellencamp show at Summerfest a few years back, and Fogerty absolutely blew Mellencamp out of the water. Fogerty put on an awesome show, while Mellencamp seemed to be just going through the motions (no encore or anything). This is coming from a big Mellencamp fan. I had seen Mellencamp before and he always put on great shows so I was disappointed.
