  1. It seems like your serious, but I'm not positive. The whole "March sports are awful" line makes me think you're being sarcastic. If not, I'd rather watch one NCAA tournament game than the next 50 WBCs combined. And it's not close. I just don't see the point of it at all. I think the point of watching it, just like all sports and entertainment, is to enjoy yourself. Some people get enjoyment out of their team competing for the World Series, others get enjoyment out of baseball in all forms. I look to my grandparents who go to random little league games because they love the sport. More power to them, I wish I could have that kind of love without the incessant need for my team (Brewers) to be a winner to power my enjoyment. I'm not saying he shouldn't enjoy it. I was genuinely curious. I've rarely (if ever) heard anyone say March sports are awful. I think most people enjoy the NCAA tournament. That's all I was wondering. God knows I don't agree with everyone's choices nor should they agree with mine. I just thought it was an odd post.

  3. Amen. Reading the book that Billy Beane wrote is also a waste of time.
  4. Jaso isn't much younger than Morse and before last year was never a regular. Morse is a beast, and one of the most intimidating hitters in baseball. "Marginal upgrade", are you kidding? Last year the Mariners had Casper Wells (.698 OPS) and Trayvon Robinson (.618) in LF. The additions of Morales and Morse at least give them a respectable middle of the order. Ummmm...what? Morse is a beast? Not really. Jaso>Morse in terms of value. Hideous for Seattle.
  5. I would vote for all of those guys except Trammell. I read somewhere that Pedro and Randy Johnson were eligible next year too, but I guess that was untrue. Those guys are slam dunks too.
  6. I am a reformed prospect hound. It's a lottery ticket. I prefer the proven major leaguer route now.
  7. I agree. I just found it interesting because it illustrates just how often "top" prospects fail. It's a lot more often than people think.

  9. You're vastly overrating the Reds, so my answer is no.
  10. Better not be $10MM. That would make it a very bad signing IMO. $5MM would be OK, anything more than that is a little steep.
  11. Ridiculous contract by the Phillies. Again.
  12. I haven't seen a single deal where I thought to myself "I wish Melvin had made that deal", and I've seen a lot of them that I would've been very angry about. I have no problem with our offseason so far.
  13. Yeah, I don't care about Heckathorn. He's been extremely underwhelming since being drafted. I'll be interested to see if a scrub team takes Destin Hood for a test drive. His tools were off the charts when drafted, and he could be a very useful player if he ever figures it out (unlikely I know, but a decent gamble IMO).
  14. I personally think command is part mental. Which is part of what I was alluding to.
  15. Easily his best call IMO. That was my ringtone for like a year after it happened. haha It's STILL my ringtone. Can't get enough of it. I had to change I before my wife strangled me. I use about 7,000 minutes a month so she heard it a lot.
  16. Easily his best call IMO. That was my ringtone for like a year after it happened. haha I ordered this about a month ago for my brother-in-law, so I'm glad to hear first-hand accounts that it has radio calls. I'll be looking forward to borrowing it about 15 hours after I give it to him, because he'll have watched it all by then.
  17. I agree with all of this except the last paragraph. I would be floored if he ever figured it out. He lacks, IMO, mental toughness. In a big way. Edit: I see I Warning Track Power beat me to it.
  18. I'm not saying Gomez is going to get $15M/yr. The point is that if he has another season similar or better than his 2012, that his price will be much higher than people think it'll be. Obviously, he could end up flopping next season. For the sake of the team, I hope that doesn't happen, but you never know. He could also play his way into a pretty big contract. If he has the same year in 2013 as he did in 2012, I could see him getting 4/40 or something like that.
  19. Yes. That's way it's been going for quite a few years and will continue to go that way. For every Ryan Braun that takes a discount early in his career there are like 10 Prince Fielders who will squeeze every dollar possible out of their club until free agency and then go somewhere else or be traded. I actually think it's trending directly opposite of that. You're seeing way more players lock themselves into guaranteed money and forgoing 1-2 years of free agency. Cost certainty is becoming a big deal for a lot of franchises.
  20. As long as its not us, fine.
  21. Hilariously awful contract.
  22. I wouldn't be actively shopping Braun, but everyone's available. Always. At least in my world. The comparison is not apt anyway, Braun is way more valuable than Gallardo for the reasons stated before me.
  23. I think their numbers were really, really close, but Posey's a catcher. That's what wouldve put him over the top for me.
  24. Because he's not a very good person and doesn't put forth the effort required of a professional baseball player? The first part is irrelevant, but the 2nd part could be a problem. I still think they'll be able to move him.
  25. Works for me. I'm not nearly as high on Gennett as a lot of others here are, and Herrera is terrific. I could swallow a year of Francouer to get Herrera. I'd rather eat Francouer's contract for a year than give some reliver 3 years/$12-$15MM personally.
