  1. Keston Huira to Rays for Tyler Glasnow. Who says no? Good God, I hope the Brewers do. And quickly.
  2. Also, I'm glad I trusted my gut and didn't read it.
  3. As a brewer fan I hope Hernan plays a lot Amen. The Cubs playing bad players would be good.
  4. Wait, you think they're not?
  5. Pretty much my thoughts. First move of the offseason I'm not staunchly in favor of. I also know that Stearns has earned my trust, so giddy-up.
  6. Lol at the Cubs pitching. Rule 5-desperate
  7. I think the 7/200 being thrown around is about 100 short.
  8. Right. Thank god there's no games for 3 1/2 months.
  9. You hit the nail on the head. The Brewers in regards to pitching sign guys that would normally be back end of rotation guys and make them amongst their top starters. NOT a sustainable strategy. 185 wins in 2 seasons. I think it's possible that Steans and Counsell are smarter than you. I like the signing. Minimal "risk". I quote the word risk because there really isn't any risk here at all.
  10. I would've liked this, but I admit I like Gausman and believe he can be a good pitcher with the right environment. Agree on Walker, and Wood to some degree. It seems that Wood will never be healthy though.
  11. Good God. I might've gone to 10MM for 2 years. Maybe. That's a lot of money for a guy who's been mostly terrible for his career. Good luck Jordan.
  12. It's incredible how clueless some people are about this across a ll sports. Never ceases to amaze me.
  13. Vosler seems like the obvious choice out of these guys given his positional versatility between 1B/3B, the Brewers obvious need there, and his left-handedness at the plate. He's a little older (26) but that's why he's a throw-in not a centerpiece. Eh. He's 26 as you said. Not much upside there. I'd swing for the fences.
  14. I'd give Ruiz a look. Still very young and clearly has wheels.
  15. Davies frustrated the crap out of me...nibble, nibble, nibble(go to 3-0), then groove a fast(if you can call it that)ball and get tattooed. If he didn't have his control, he was useless, and that happened way too much...especially down the stretch this last year. I'm not sad to see him go, at all. Are you sure that you read DAVIES on the back of the pitcher you were watching? Because this really isn't true at all. You didn't like Davies because he didn't throw 98 MPH heat. Just admit it. I freely admit to not giving Davies the benefit of the doubt because of his stature and velocity. He won me over with his results though. Having said that, I won't lose much sleep over losing him and think Lauer will be a similar quality pitcher in time. I like Urias more than most and would've done this deal easily without Lauer. He's just very nice icing on the cake.
  16. I don't know how I missed this until now, but I LOVE this deal, and I've been an ardent Grisham guy. Urias is a huge get for not much in return.
  17. You point out that it was different eras, but then use baserunning as your proof that Ozzie was "clearly" better. That doesn't jive. Teams ran more in Ozzie's day. Perhaps I'm misinterpreting your use of the word "clearly". I read that is "substantially", which it's really marginal at best. If you feel like reading a deep dive on Omar's HOF credentials, this is a good, objective read: https://www.cooperstowncred.com/the-polarizing-hall-of-fame-case-of-omar-vizquel/ Edit: nevermind. Sveumrules did the heavy lifting for me .
  18. I think you need to define this, because when you look at the numbers, I'm just not seeing it. Ozzie got more fanfare, and had some timely hits in his career, but he was pretty pedestrian overall with the bat. OPS+. Baserunning. It's close, but it's clear. Also, just based on WAR, I'm guessing (and I admit it's a guess) that Ozzie was a significantly better defender according to metrics than Omar was.
  19. Different eras. Ozzie was the better all-around hitter. It's pretty clear. Fielding percentage is an irrelevant statistic to this discusison.
  20. Rolen is an easy yes for me. He's a top 10 3b of all time.
  21. Very similar players. Ozzie was better offensively though, as a hitter and a baserunner. Defensively you can argue either way, but I think Ozzie was better there too, although I'll admit that's purely anecdotal.
  22. Pretty much agree, although Walker is an easy yes from me.
  23. This would be my vote.
  24. Omar Narvaez. Unfortunately he's a terrible defensive catcher, but he's a very good hitter. Not Grandal-good, but very good. They'd have to give up a fair amount to get him though as he has 3 years of control left. I'm sure Stearns looked into it and it appears Narvaez will be traded to someone and soon.
