  1. Lowrie makes so much sense. When Hiura is up, Lowrie can play 3rd against lefties and 2nd against tough righties. Versatility, etc , etc
  2. Wow. Love this. Never though it would've been possible. Great job by Mark allowing it.
  3. Should find out what Bobby Thigpen is up to imo.
  4. I have large money on that being intentional.
  5. Umm...Not really fine Sure they are. Good defense, average hit for catchers. Or at least acceptable hittimg.
  6. Yeah, I'd trade Ray for him. And I would try to expand it to include Smith. I really wouldn't know what to expect the price tag to be.
  7. Good God. I wish I rooted for a team that could risk $40,000,000 on a guy like Britton. What a horrible signing. But it really doesn't matter if he spends the whole contract hurt. Gotta love baseball's "system".
  8. Yes, too little. And no thanks on Urena. Realmuto/Castro I'd think would be Hiura/Peralta/Ray/couple of lower level guys. And that may not be enough.
  9. I've always liked Gamel. I don't really know why, but I have. I still find this pretty underwhelming though. The pitcher had a nice year, maybe they see something in him.
  10. Could be a huge upside signing for the Cards. They could be pretty damn good next year.
  11. Yeah, I meant more "thank God the Brewers didn't give him that deal to play 2nd".
  12. Yikes that's a lot of money. Easy pass.
  13. Nice signing by the Cubs. Hope he sucks, but I bet he helps them.
  14. Really good landing spot for Brantley. I like this deal for both him and the Astros. If he stays healthy that lineup just got even more scary. Replacing Tony Kemp with a player of Brantley's caliber is a big upgrade.
  15. Yeah, that seems terrible for the Rangers.
  16. Yep. He would've been a target for me at that price. A big target.
  17. There's no chance he's signing anything with a team option. Makes no sense for him at all. I don't see it working out for Milwaukee, but I sure wouldn't be against a one year flyer to have him play 2nd.
  18. I can't decide which one is worse. Both horrible. Nothing will ever top Bill Mazeroski though. That one is truly hilarious.
  19. Except that Weaver isn't a soft-tosser. His fastball averaged 94.3 mph last year. Davies averaged 90.3. Weaver did have a sophomore slump, but in 2017 he averaged 10.7 K/9. Kelly was a borderline top-50 prospect and is only 23. Then there's the comp pick. I'm higher on Weaver than most. Even if they resign Goldschmidt, what's it going to cost them - at least 5/$125M? And they'll have him for his declining seasons as he turns 33 next season. Arizona is selling at his peak. The sky is not falling. Yep all the way around.
  20. Also, Weaver isn't a soft-tosser. Not sure where that's coming from. Edit: I definitely like this trade for the Cardinals though. Weaver could still be a very good one. Glad to see him gone.
  21. Davies and Nottingham were exactly who I thought off too. I figured they would get much more in return. Arguably best 1st baseman in baseball. Carson Kelly is a solid defensive catcher, profiling better defensively than Nottingham. But the values shouldn't be all that much dissimilar. That isn't the problem with the comparison. I mean I think Kelly is a better prospect than Nottingham, but not by a lot. I know I would value Weaver much much more highly than Davies due to ceiling. Weaver obviously had a terrible year last year, but 5 years of a guy with his potential is worth a lot more than Davies. To me at least, and I imagine to scouts as well.
  22. No doubt about it. The Brewers simply can't afford to miss on these types of things. If Corbin gets hurt they'll just throw another $100+ million at someone else. They have more money than anyone. I fully expect Harper to stay too.
  23. I'm fine with Gray. I'm not giving up much though. Thinking similar to a Cy Sneed type guy
  24. That's fair. I will say that I've seen 40-50 of his starts over the last 2 years (fantasy baseball nerd). I don't see a regression candidate. He is damn good. He throws damn near all sliders by my eye though. And he's a nibbler. Dudes stop swinging at the slider out of the zone, he could have trouble, because he has lost velocity recently. I'll be really interested to see how that contract turns out. He's a really strange pitcher.
  25. He was a 3 WAR player when they signed him. Pretty sure he was worth a lot more than what you're stating. I agree he wasn't a very good fit there though. Wasn't a bad contract at all. And still isn't.
