  1. Re-reading this thread in the light of the subsequent 7 weeks of baseball, and tonight's playoff-clinching win, has been enlightening. To paraphrase one poster, so many in this thread posted opinions as facts. I'm glad I never attended the "funeral", makes this run all the sweeter. Go Crew! I was amused to learn that there is at least one person who misses Ned Yost as manager. Which is absolutely hilarious.
  2. Most of that is accounted for with a few blowouts. We had the worst run differential of playoff teams last year, and we were almost in the World Series. Last year we lost by 3-4, but won by 1-2. Same thing this year I knew this was wrong, so I checked. Better than the Braves & Rockies. But my real reason for checking was to see what the actual # was. It was +105. Last year's team was far better than this year's. Which is kind of what I expected in the spring. I was hoping for someone to have a Mileyesque season to help the starting staff but it didn't happen.
  3. I think he's done no matter what happens. He's either fired or quits. Also, this thread is really stupid.
  4. Brewcrewin07 went from shooting for the moon (Syndergaard), to shooting for an airplane (Ray), to shooting for a sparrow (Roark). He got to the point with his "grass is always greener" philosophy that he literally wanted to grab anyone that wasn't familiar. All he cared about was wanting a big name guy at first, damned the current results or price. At the end, he simply wanted anyone, yet at the same time he knocked Jordan Lyles and Jacob Faria because he self-appointingly called them "non needle-movers". The guy was all over the map in his disgust. I hear ya. It's fairly comical actually. I personally don't think this is the season to go for it, nor do I think any of the pitchers moved were particularly great answers for various reasons, so I'm fine with what they did. This team probably isn't good enough to do much in October if they do manage to get there. I don't see the sense in mortgaging the future this season.
  5. Yeah, the Tanner Roark obsession is baffling. I get the point that somehow 2 league-average pitchers were going to make some big difference......problem is the point is a poor one.
  6. Lyles already likely did more than Ponce ever would have.
  7. ^^^ What he said. 100%.
  8. I don't particularly care about this deal much. Or any Brewers deal today. They dealt a bunch of question marks for different qutestion marks. Eh.
  9. Not sure why people are projecting Grisham to the Padres. I assume that's a rumor of some sort (I haven't read the site much recently). I'd rather keep Grisham and stick him in left field next year personally. Edit: I see the Rosenthal tweet now. I'd rather keep Grisham. He could be a very, very good one IMO.
  10. That means the Mariners had, until last week, Vogelbach, and Encarnacion at 1b. Plus Jay Bruce for a good part of the year. My god what an abomination of a roster defensively.
  11. Fun to think about, but I'd guess the number ends up around 85-90. Moustakas is streaky. I could see him around 40. And Yelich around 45. Plus there'll likely be minor injuries costing games. Still incredibly impressive thus far.
  12. I was pretty indifferent on this signing at the time, but man he's been a godsend. Hope he can keep it up!
  13. Then he's Josh Hader. Hopefully.
  14. Any way to watch this live? Sorry if that's a dumb question, I'm rarely looking to watch minor league baseball live.
  15. Agree, but I'll take a Brewers vs anyone World Series.
  16. I think Kimbrel is a Brewer by Friday. Hoping for 1 or 2 years.
  17. If he's considering the Brewers he must value winning over role. I'm sure he'd live if he pitched the 7th occasionally.
  18. Hope they keep the M. Not a fan of the ball/glove, although I wouldn't hate it as long as it's not the bright blue.
  19. Don't disagree a lot with your post, but as to the last line, it's too late. He's already not good.
  20. Good deal for the Twins. I also would've preferred this strongly over Moustakas.
  21. What are people basing this on? He's been really really good the last 4 years except 1 (.265 BABIP, power was down though, not sure about why). He's 26. He plays a semi-premium position extremely well. He plays every day. He didn't make sense for Milwaukee, but damn, if I were a Padres fan I'd be thrilled. I base this on the fact that a player who already had character concerns just guaranteed himself $300 million no matter how poorly his plays. Your numbers mean nothing to me. Well how could I argue with logic like that?
  22. I kind of think the opposite. I'm thrilled he didn't end up with any of our rivals and think if anything the Padres will be an 80-85 win team or so and just drain a few wins off the totals of the Dodgers and Rockies. Could end up being a good thing. Hadn't thought of it that way, but I can see it.

  24. Yeah, Machado is a better player than Harper assuming he's at 3rd.
