  1. I could be repeating what others have said above. The week's schedule would be helpful, saving me checking it on other sites. I also like what MLB does with their brief analysis of upcoming series, and most anyone on BF would do a great job to write that and dig deeper. It would be too much to do with every prospect, but maybe statistical updates on the Top 5 prospects, as a reason to visit the Power 50 between the major updates. of course milwaukeebrewers.com already does it, but would a short list of promotion dates and items be a help to the number of collectors on this site? I don't use the main page much, but I really enjoy this site overall, you guys do a great job.
  2. if anybody's going to be shopped for relief help, I don't see it being Jenkins, I see it being Capellan+Graffy. When Braun gets here, there's no real reason to have Graffy anymore. I don't see it being Councell just because he can sub in at leadoff and be a backup at SS. not that Graffy+Capellan is enough to net us a couple of relievers, but maybe one average one.
  3. We're 8th in the NL in runs scored, 11th in runs allowed, so i'll consider -3 pretty decent for those rankings [GAME05 applauds Turndero]. Then add in Sheets getting back on track [GAME05 does the Chris Farley motivational speaker thing], i'd see our differential having a very consistent, positive rise. The Mets number looks great now, but with that pitching staff they've got, I'd bet that their differential statistic is going to be a roller coaster ride all season.
  4. Paz Vega, who for some reason I thought was Salma Hayek until the credits ha ha. I rented the movie, had to stop it :15 in and ff to the end credits just to be sure it wasn't Selma Hayek, too.
  5. that's an interesting idea, Wallus, of throwing in Graffy+Capellan for Cantu so that we don't have way too many IF backups. Thinking TB would balk on adding any salary, though. Even if Cantu has a terrible OBP, he'd be hitting 8th, so with his power he'd fit pretty well in that spot. Houston might be a good fit for Cantu.
  6. thanks for the update. the Power 50 is probably my favourite feature on Brewerfan, and I've really learned a lot more about the Brewers because of it. what'd be sweet is a Jack Z. interview about a lot of the players on the list....
  7. a Rivera trade would be a great idea. maybe that's why he hasn't been put on waivers yet because DM is waiting for something. i could see a team with a low waiver position waiting, but a high-waiver team knows they better get him by trade if there's any chance to get him.
  8. if he came to the Brewers i sure wouldn't see him as a closer option. maybe as a set-up guy. but even if CoCo went down, with his command problems, i wonder if Aquino would get the next shot to close ahead of Benitez. do you think, though, that adding Armando might hurt Capellan's development? giving him fewer chances to perform in pressure situations? as a rising star in the bullpen and even a future closing candidate, maybe we need to be pushing him more. still, it's hard to figure anyone's drooling over the chance to get that guy. plus it would have to be Jenkins who is moved just to cover Armando's salary. and I still think Jenkins can give more to the team then Armando could.--of course if Turnbow blows up again maybe I'll change my mind.
  9. who's talking about Nix as an option? maybe some national writers, but i've never expected any of them to do any hard-core research to find out who our #4 and 5 outfielders are; they'll just throw out a name they recognize.
  10. i'm not sure i see it happening any more this offseason, but i could see that trade happening maybe three months in, depending on how Turnbow fares and how much we end up needing Jenkins in the outfield.
  11. geez, that's all we need is another outfielder who'd want to be a starter and couldn't be.
  12. of Fielder, Weeks and Hardy, i'd think between free agency or performance that only one of them would be there. but defininitely not Sheets still pitching for the team. it's hard to see anyone more than Gallardo and Inman being in the rotation in 2010. i like the Hall point, though. it's hard to get past the fact that he could be a superstar infielder vs. an above-average OF.
  13. from now on I'm going to be referring to Ben Hendrickson simply as Player To Be Named Later.
  14. i just see all of our start as guys who really need to be there, as integral. it doesn't seem like we have the team to lose two of those players to pick up one. especially for one who's the anti-Bill Hall. if a bunch or one of our platoon/backup players leaves, there's plenty of room to trim there, but it just doesn't seem like we are really missing that one big piece to make the team competitive. and with as much trouble as the Sox have had trying to trade him, i could only see that if a problem arose that his enormous salary would really pigeonhole us for any future additions like Suppan or even resigning our current players.
  15. i was surprised at the jump the writers had his character take, from the mildly annoying guy at the first branch to completely over the top. it's like the show thinks we won't figure out he's repulsive in the first 30 seconds and they feel they need to do another 5 minutes of stuff. so many of the jokes are clever and flow so smoothly into the story, but nothing Andy does really fits that, so i just wish the character would disappear. I'm a jackhammer! i'm using that one in my next job interview.
  16. $10 for only being good in the playoffs? disgusting. He must have the same agent as Reggie Sanders. I'm just going to guess the Pirates pay up for Weaver, they haven't done anything yet and have some money to spend.
  17. Pam. Maybe this show will conclude like the Wonder Years, where at the last episode we'll find out that Pam and Jim didn't end up together and both married other people.
  18. yeah, doesn't Melky play 2nd? I wasn't thinking about Miguel Cabrera, but then again I have been dipping into the egg nog.
  19. that would be a good trade. the last thing a struggling team needs is a closer, so why not add some offense? and the Pirates have a bunch of good bullpen guys, so maybe one of them could step up. a good infielder is sure worth a lot more than 25 saves a year.
  20. I figure Plan B without Suppan is not to make more moves and just hope and pray that everyone stays healthy. I think Villy could be a decent starter, too, but it's more a question of having zero insurance when a starter goes down. Beyond Villy all we've got is a promising minor-leaguer who hasn't pitched in AAA yet, and that's pretty scary. ZJ has a ways to go yet.
  21. If I were Suppan I'd wait another month, too, if it meant SF or NYM would jump into the bidding. But I wonder how tight Attanasio's pocketbook will be if he feels at all desperate to bring a better player in and make some sort of splash in this offseason (not counting our new catcher). Maybe he'll be ready to duke it out with another big spender. I'd applaud a Suppan signing. For as good as NL Central lineups have gotten, we'd at least be able to counter with an awesome starting rotation.
  22. Sosa on the Brewers? I just threw up a little. Our worst outfielder is Brady Clark, and I can't figure how Sosa would be any better than him.
  23. come on, don't you think we need to give Braun more of a chance to succeed than this? Obvioulsy the guy needs a lot of work, but with only a half-season at just the AA level, it kinda seems a but hurried to already be hoping he'll get pulled off the valuable position of third base and be moved to the outfield. With his defense as the focus next year, maybe he'll really improve at AAA. Plus when he does make the big club, certainly Sveum has already shown that he's an awesome coach for what he did with Fielder's D and especially Weeks' improvement.
  24. what about Molitor?
