  1. I also have a problem with Cat, my ex
  2. Is that difference worth 12 million dollars a year?
  3. Yeah, kinda insulting. We had the first offer on the table for him. I think we should do 4/100. Yeah, he'd leave 40 million bucks on the table but he'd also likely get another huge contract in 4 years, 2 years sooner. If he likes it here and wants to win, I don't think its that big of a risk for him. I'd be willing to bet that in 4 years he gets another contract for 40 million or more. I guess it's easy for me to say and I'm clearly biased. But, I'd rather sign here for less money but shorter years and get another deal later. He'd be right up there with Yount and Molitor, he'd be the most loved person in this town. Or he could be another Yankee back to reality......hey ben, how ya doing buddy?...
  4. Good call on the Angels, I could see them being interested in Prince to replace Texiera's offense(assuming they lose him). They are the type of team I see making an offer for Prince, good all around team that might be a big bat away. They also have the depth and young talent to give us what we'd want and still be good, I definitely see a match. I'd love to get Wood, Willits, and Santana depending on what else we'd have to add. Willits could play cf and leadoff and provide some obp, switch hitter, and would free up a Cameron for Hughes(?) trade. Wood could play 3rd(right?) and allow us to let Gamel learn 3rd, move positions, or trade him. Santana would obviously be nice, not sure if they'd want to move him, I'm afraid we might have to include Jeffress. Could we get that package with Prince and lower level prospects or would we have to include more?
  5. Is that projection with cats in pants or no? Meh. I'd rather just use McClung then pay Garland what he's going to get.
  6. I really can't see Boston doing that either. Why wouldn't they just sign Texeira and keep Bucholz and Ellsbury?
  7. wow........I have a lot of friends that I'd consider casual fans, and the majority of them know Escobar as a defensive wizard. There is no way he should be hosting a Brewers show with a comment like that on one of the teams top 3 prospects
  8. Not sure that sentiment is realistic, DM said himself there will be some consitant turnover to keep the team competitive.
  9. I like that Hammer, we'd have so much financial flexibility, not to mention more cheap players that can help. I like moving Weeks to CF and lower in the order, allowing Cano to leadoff. I think I'd rather go hard after a good 3B, maybe using Cabrera as a chip. If you dont flip Cabrera he'd be nice insurance in case Weeks doesnt stick in center. The right side of your infield is improved defensively(although I'm not sure how good Cano is, thinking he's average defensively, correct me if I'm wrong.). Gallardo, Parra, Hughes and Kennedy would excite me as a young core for a staff. We'd have a lot of available funds to throw at Texiera, and we wouldnt be competing with the Yankees.....
  10. Crap, I just lost a long post because I wasnt logged in when I hit enter, here's my jumbled thoughts: If we dont sign CC, I'd love to have Sheets back. I don't think we can get him on a one year-prove-yourself-then-hit-jackpot-deal, someone will give him a decent offer that we'll have to match or beat. I'd offer 3/45, or 48, with an option. Not sure if that is enough, if it is I'd do it, here's why: I think his "injury history" will scare a lot of teams away, which is fair. I'm not trying to make excuses for the guy, but he has had some unlucky weird injuries. I honestly think he's more unlucky than fragile. If that's true, you'd have to think his luck changes at some point and he has a few totally healthy 30+ start years in him. If he does, he's probably underpaid. Even if he misses 4-8 starts I still think his contract is ok, not a disaster. If I'm way off on those numbers then feel free to disagree, but if we can get him in that ballpark I'd do it. If he has relatively healthy years we have an underpaid ace, which is so rare.
  11. It might be hard for us common folk to understand turning down 3.75 million dollars, but you have to respect his reasoning..family, religion. He may not be a top paid ATHLETE, but he's made a nice chunk of change, pretty sure he'll survive financially. It's kinda refreshing to see someone choose their family over money.
  12. Would 2/15 get it done? Would anyone do 2/15? I think I would..
  13. If we could get him for Gwynn and Gillespie I do it, I'd also be hesitant to move Cain, I love his upside and hope he's ready to be Camerons replacement in 2010. Then you shop Hart and Fielder and take the better offer for pitching, if its for Fielder why can't Hart move to 1st? Are we better with Giles, Hart and pitching from Prince trade or keeping Prince and Hart and exploring other options for pitching? I'd probably do the deal above of Hart for Giles and Bell, Gamel is the long term right fielder if he doesn't stick at 3rd.
  14. Those are the two points I was coming to post about. I agree with you 100% that we dont need a 4/5 starter, we need a front end starter to go with Gallardo, Parra, Bush, Suppan (CV,McClung). We dont lack back end guys.
  15. Agreed, TH was on it pretty early, and I never really had a reason to doubt him
  16. Sounds very stupid. Not sure why ANY AL team wouldn't be interested, maybe not at the price we want, but there can't be many teams where he wouldnt help the offense either at 1st or DH
  17. I dont know, I think its pretty classy
  18. It depends how realisitc the management options are. You CAN do them in other games but I often get frustrated at the silly trade offers I get. No, I'm not giving you Manny Parra for Henry Blanco. Or making trade offers that are very realisitic when you consider a players talent, upside, and contractual situation only to have them turn it down. Or the opposite, they make it too easy by accepting trades that would never happen. Like giving up a young, cheap, talented player for Craig Counsell or Mike Rivera because their overall bar is currently better. Sorry, I'm done ranting about stupid video game trades.
  19. The Dodgers love Kemp. I don't know why people keep throwing his name around. Logjam maybe, but he won't be the one moved
  20. I don't know what happened in the second half to see his BB tank so much You have to take a minimum of 4 pitches to draw a walk...
  21. I believe you almost always have to start as a part-timer as well. Yup, my dad is a mailman, you start out as a sub and do random routes. Not sure how long it takes until you get an actual route, I'm sure it varies by location
  22. sounds cool, since i always get baseball games, or any sport actually, and do all the front office stuff and then get bored with the actual playing of the game. I almost prefer doing all the trades, signings, drafts, lineups, etc
  23. We'd probably expect Weeks to hit something like .250/.355/.415 next year (conservative guess). I'd take those numbers next year. If he finally breaks out then he passes those numbers easily. People complain (not directed at you russ) about waiting for him to reach his potential, which I agree can be frustrating waiting for, but that doesn't mean he won't ever do it. The guy kills the ball, he had more unlucky outs than anyone on the team. I'd take those numbers from him next year. I think there may be some veteran replacements out there that can match those numbers, probably with better defense, but I doubt any would have the upside of Weeks.
  24. I agree that he'll bat lower in the order to start, whether this year or next. IF he eventually is worthy of batting 1st or 2nd that means hes a superstar, with how he plays D
