  1. One of the most overrated factors we all talk about is fastball speed. Far more important are location, movement, and especially ability for the hitter to pick it up. Watch Woodruff and Peralra and you'll see what I'm talking about. Woodruff is, for lack of a better word, hittable. When he lacates, he's tough. He has a big fb, but doesn't seem to "play" that fast. Peralta, on the other hand, is harder to pick up and it's just on you. Much like Hader. You would think they're throwing 98. Not giving up on Woodruff, I think he needs to throw more off speed stuff to have success at the MLB level.
  2. This has always puzzled me about the Brewers. Small market teams can not draft guys like Kodi, Coulter, Covey,Grisham, Ray etc in the first round year after year and expect to be any good. The difference in cost between the best minor league system’s scouts and coaches and the worst is probably not a $2M difference in total salary which is what we waste on guys like Miley and Sogard every year. The jury is still out on virtually all the guys you mentioned.
  3. You're entitled to your frustration. But when they're about to win 3 out of 4 in Colorado it just comes across a bit silly. I put a pretty clear disclaimer it was a knee jerk reaction and also posted I was wrong after the fact. Also was in first inning coming after yet another shutout. But thanks for keeping track of my post for a few hours. No problem. Maybe wait until after the 1st inning from now on before freaking out. Just a friendly suggestion.

  5. Now you know why I've had Peralta #1 on our Top 25 for a year and a half now. It wasn't to be different, he has great stuff, changes speeds. Have been higher on him than Woodruff, Burnes, and Ortiz for a while now.
  6. My semi-annual rant. Why can't we see CC full press conference??!!? Taking a couple more minutes away from Auggie babbling about the Bawclub is asking too much??!!?
  7. Good thing Mom is a Brewers fan, because I'm watching Peraltas debut.
  8. Can you make transactions during a game?? They may need to drive a couple relievers up from Colorado Springs before the end of this game.
  9. Yes. Well, I feel this COULD be the case. Any time I hear about a pitcher's arm injury being minor, I always have doubts.
  10. If you don’t score any runs I’m not sure what difference it makes if you’re losing 9-0 or 1-0. They’re not good enough offensively, that’s the point. My comment was directed at the Cubs series specifically. In response to those saying how the Cubs have the Brewers number, just can't compete with the Cubs, etc. So my point was, yes, they got swept but it's not like the Cubs blew them out. They were in all the games.
  11. I now realize I blew that call some 15 years ago umping a babe ruth game. Oh well, sucks for them.
  12. My exact thought. With no experience yet this season, he should not have been the guy in that situation. That had potential to be a mess quickly. I know there are those here who love CC and think the mangaer has little to no bearing on game results, but I am questioning CC a lot lately, and it is strating to bug me. How are the historical stats on Chacin the 3rd time through? I'm guessing not good and that's why guys like him, Guerra, Suter are going to get quick hooks. Who was it years ago that you'd see it coming in the 6th or 7th inning that he was losing is but they'd ride it out with the old strategy and he'd give up a chunk of runs, Bush? Maybe Estrada? I think you're talking about 90% of the starting pitchers we've had since 1984.
  13. Did you mean his throw or pushing Shaw? Throw was terrible, but Shaw was called off and needs to move Pushing Shaw. Arcia doesn't need to call off a guy who is camped under the ball. It's not like Shaw was running for position, he literally was standing there waiting for the ball and Arcia just pushed him out of the way. Just because he made a stupid mistake doesn't mean he has to do a jerk move like that to redeem himself. If I was Shaw I'd have a couple four letter words for him. Shaw smiled a bit before he was pushed, almost like he was messing with Arcia. Probably an inside joke.
  14. I would say it is getting worse, football now has automatic reviews on most scoring plays? Please keep that out of baseball. Even seemingly clear cut Touchdowns, my initial reaction is to wonder if it will stand. Not that instant jubilation. Same thing in baseball. Wow what a play by Arcia!! No, let's wait 5 minutes to see if it was. I really hate replay, and would rather have that instant thrill back and live with bad calls.
  15. You're now a Brewer Yelich, its about time you learned the craft of bone headed base running.
  16. Have always felt this way on all sports. Replay is a buzzkill, and they still get it wrong quite often.
  17. Nah, with runners at the corners, they would have tried some sort of contact play or double steal that would have blown up in their face. Never underestimate the many ways the Brewers can kill a scoring opportunity.
  18. Cain and Yelich weren't brought in to be "big bats," they were brought in to be all around players who could get on base at the top of the order. Cain is .037 OBP points above his career avg and .013 SLG points above his career avg. Yelich is .002 OBP points below his career avg and .021 SLG points above his career average. Other than Yelich getting hurt for a bit, they are doing as well as anyone should have expected of them. You are correct sir. Without looking up the numbers, just "seemed" like they were both off their career numbers a little more than that. As you've pointed out they're pretty much right on them.
  19. Arcia is not the problem. Everyone knew he would be a marginal hitter this season. Yea, he hasn't even been that yet but he will be. You may not like the excuse, but he is still very young. The fault lies with the big bats. The top 5 in the order is where most of the runs should be coming from. Thames injury doesn't help, and Braun/Santana/Shaw all need to produce more than they have. Even Cain/Yelich haven't set the world on fire. Can't say they've had a bad year at the plate so far, just sort of meh. That's the main reason they're not scoring more runs, the big bats need to carry the load. That said, a black hole in the line-up after the 5 spot doesn't exactly help the cause.
