  1. Not if they DFA him. Sorry not sorry. You don't have to apologize for that thought to him, he was the one who originally asked the question of how long you let an unproductive Braun remain on the roster and he was mocked mercilessly like it was the most ridiculous question ever proposed. Well, I had it coming due the name of the thread I used. If I did it over again, I would have used a more "tame" thread title. But we are seeing what I was talking about it. If he was an .850ish hitter constantly dinged up, that could work. If he could play almost every day at even .775 or so, that would work. But you just can't have a part time player on the 25 for three years who isn't even all that productive when he can play. That said, sort of sounds like I'm hoping this happens. I am not. Man, I wish he would stay healthy and rake because that could actually put them over the top as a real contender. And it is still May, so who know we may still see that yet.
  2. Not if they DFA him. Sorry not sorry. Yup. We can laugh about it all we want. But if this continues all season, I can absolutely see some serious discussions going on about parting ways. Are they really going to reserve a roster spot for two more years for a part time player? Especially if that player is mediocre? Can't say they'll actually do anything, but I guarantee it will be seriously discussed. A trade where they eat most of the salary, negotiated retirement, etc. I don't see them flat-out DFA-ing him.
  3. LOL, I'm surprised nobody has commented on this yet. I just picture Mr. Olajuwon shaving. You may want to Google it...
  4. No, I don't think players are ok with it. Players rarely get caught because I don't think it's much of a "thing" anymore. Multiple HD cameras have taken care of that.
  5. I hear the frustration, but do you really want to put Perez on the 10 day DL for missing one game? Do we even know if it was a late scratch, making it impossible to get someone over to AZ in time? Braun is the cause for most of this, it's like having a roster of 24 1/2. Get used to it, because this is what we'll have for the next 3 years. Unless they decide to roll with 12 pitchers, which isn't going to happen either.
  6. These reaches pretty much prove my point. And batters do get called out for not trying to avoid the pitch. Batter required to be in the box is probably your best example, but that isn't enforced for anyone so the players are on an even playing field. That's the problem with PEDs, unfair advantage for those breaking the rules over those who do not.
  7. Pitchers using pine tar for one. You said there are other rules that are broken and not enforced. This is a bad example, because it is enforced when a player is caught.
  8. I care. If 5% or 90% were using PEDs I would still care. It's against the rules, and not fair to those players who don't want to abuse their bodies. That's a fine opinion to have. There are a lot of things against the rules that don't get enforced and I guess I'm just over it. Such as?
  9. I think he's actually said that before many years ago, that it helps him cover the outside corner. Yea, I don't think it has anything to do with being late on fastballs. Braun's biggest weakness has always been swinging at pitches (especially sliders and change-ups) low and away. We're just seeing that more than ever now.
  10. I care. If 5% or 90% were using PEDs I would still care. It's against the rules, and not fair to those players who don't want to abuse their bodies.
  11. The guys who juice don't look at it that way. They are used to being a great player, and want to continue being great as long as possible. I wouldn't be surprised if Cano has been juicing a good chunk of his career. Either way, it's not a hard narrative to follow. Getting older, trying to recapture his glory days and cement HOF status...maybe even trying to help the Mariners make a WS run, potentially knew the process on how to beat the system from when he was younger pre-contract...only this time around he got caught. Plus, factor in the requirement of an IPA to rule that the diuretic was used to mask a PED...I don't believe Cano for a second. Verlander has it right here... Yea, any player who gets caught I wouldn't at all be surprised if they did it off and on for many, many years. It's Hakim's Razor.

  13. I agree for the most part, but there is one flaw in this plan. Braun isn't the typical injured player where he goes on the 10 day (or two) gets healthy then comes back and contributes. Braun will never be healthy. He will always be day to day for the next three years. Point being, you can put him on the 10 day, activate him, and he can and will have something flare up that same day or the next. This isn't theory anymore, this is where Braun is at this point. You DL him, bring him back, and you're right back where you started.
  14. Thank you! Very interesting, and informative. Edit- Looking over the channels they have, missing some like A&E, History, Discovery, etc. I'm sure they're adding channels all the time though, so who know what they'll have by August when I want to make a change. Even at that, it will be hard for me to justify paying $60 more a month or whatever for a couple of those channels.
  15. You do realize all those streaming services are just turn on the tv and go to the channel you want, right? I dropped cable and went to Youtube TV a couple of months ago and couldn't be happier. Spectrum bill went from $190 to $68 for just internet and Youtube TV is $40 a month, so I'm saving about $80 each month. I have not kept up with the various services, but my promo rate with Spectrum will be up in August so I want to start looking for options. Here are my questions and concerns about Sling, YouTube, etc.: 1) DVR available? Really only need it on "main" TV 2) How are multiple TVs handled? Do I need a hardware device and remote for each TV? If I have a smart (Wifi enabled) TV is any other hardware necessary? 3) In the past, seemed like there was always a hassle with the local channels and FSN-Wisconsin. Do any of the services include those channels? I figure any other channel is pretty much available depending on what package you select. 4) How stable is the feed? Always concerned I'll be watching the Brewers in game 7 of the WS and I'll start getting freeze-ups, drops, "stuttering." That's the one good thing about Spectrum I must say. Costs a fortune, but never ever have any issues with the feed.
  16. Nice base running Arcia. Rounded 2nd, made sure throw goes through, take 3rd easily. Not that hard, but refreshing to see someone run the bases properly.
  17. Please get hot Villar. If for no other reason than shutting down the 17 threads about 2B.
  18. I'm old enough to remember when everyone used the bullpen cart. Seems really weird now looking back.
  19. If it's hard to pick up the ball off him, it will always be hard. That's not the type of thing batters where hitters adapt. But I do agree he struggles with location at times. He does have a good change, just had no reason to use it in Colorado, he knows better than that. He will need to work on control, work on changing things up a bit, etc. But that's true of any pitcher, always. Sure, he can go south, as any player can. But give me a pitcher with an electric FB and good off-speed stuff, and I'll take my chances.
  20. 2019? I doubt it. It's not impossible, but I agree he may get a shot at some point in the next 2-3 years. But certainly not this year, and I doubt to start the season in 2019. Opening day 2019 you have: Anderson Nelson (assuming he's healthy) Chacin Davies Peralta Then there's Woodruff and Guerra as possibilities, and Burnes sooner than later. I think they'll want to see how all that shakes out this year and next before moving Hader from a role he dominates. If they can lock down a rotation for 2019/2020, they'll leave Hader is in his current role, if something goes south they may figure it's worth a try.
  21. Yea, haven't heard or read anything either. "What we want is 5-6 good days in a row" is a little troubling, seems to imply he hasn't had 5-6 good days in a row. But I may be reading too much into that comment. At this point, I would be shocked if he's back by the AS break- though I never expected him to return earlier than that anyhow.
  22. "Because he's been so good in the pen" is a pretty good reason. I don't think they wanted to rock the boat this season with Hader, so let him be dominant where he is. That's not to say they don't look at moving him to the rotation next season, or the season after that. I still believe that option will be on the table moving forward.
  23. No. He's a younger and right handed hitting Sogard. He's fine in a utility role as a replacement for Sogard. But no you don't want him starting more than once a week max. I have no problem with Saladino, Perez, or anyone else in the line-up every day at 2B as long as they're hitting. None of these guys can hit at a respectable level for an entire season, so may as well ride the hot bat. Maybe Saladino can hit at a decent enough level to play every day for 4-6 weeks or whatever, that's fine.
